Stupid Saleh made Mims a head case

can we merge the Mims should be cut thread with this it isn't Mims fault thread?

Maybe Mims ins't good. Or, maybe he is having a sophomore slump? Maybe he is thinking too much on the new scheme and trying to hard and he has to just play. There are a lot of reasons why him may be struggling - maybe the 3 QBs deliver the ball differently.

Either way, if him getting benched and then having to prove himself is the reason he is struggling, he isn't going to make it on this team or any other. Half this board thinks Saleh is too soft - now some are arguing he is too hard/mean?

What a fragile little bird Mims must be then, if actual expectations and accountability broke him and his fragile confidence so thoroughly that he can longer catch the football.

I don't think you Mims supporters realize how amazingly soft and weak you're making Mims look in this thread with this argument.

Stud WR's can't be broken over being expected to know the route tree ffs.

I hear what you are saying but these guys are human beings like anyone else. If the environment is not healthy for Mims, his morale could be low and it could be affecting him. Speculation on my part but I will say this - A real coach knows which guys to go hard on and which guys to inject positivity in.

I'll be honest, I think you're starting with an outcome, and working your way back to a cause.

You think Mims is a very good WR, yes?

So starting at that point, there must therefore be a REASON he's playing like crap.

Because he's a good WR, and good WR's don't play like crap.

So it must be the Coach crushing his fragile confidence.  Because he is human.

I would argue that your original premise, that Mims is a very good WR< is a fact that simply is not in evidence.  He showed a few brief flashes of potential in 2020.  He wasn't Jerry Rice.

There is every possibility an alternate scenario is more plausible:  Mims is a kid with alot of potential, who hasn't/isn't working to turn that potential into results.  He was benched, NFL coaches don't bench stud WR's this long to teach lessons when they can't score points.  They don't play scrubs to teach lessons.  This just doesn't happen.  So perhaps Mims performance has actually warranted his supposedly shoddy treatment.

Maybe the person you should be frustrated with is Mims.  For not earning the job despite having more potential/physical talent than most, and for not doing anything with his opportunities when they've been given.

I hate to tell you, but it's the more realistic scenario here, and doesn't require any anti-Mims Coach-think conspiracies.

Just a player not living up to his potential, which happens a hundred times a year in the NFL.

Food for thought.

Mims drops suck this year- agree

But he didn’t have that issue last year.

This clearly is because he knows the CS hates him and he’s in his own head.

another failure by Saleh to “raise the players up”… how did you raise Mims up?

Saleh ruined mims. Needs to be held accountable.

Harry Douglas (former Falcons receiver) was just saying this same thing as it related to his own career. He said his position coach (Terry Robiskie) knew who he could be tough with and who needed a lighter touch. Good coaches have more than one speed. It would appear that the only receiver the Jets coaches actually like is Braxton Berrios.

Can you imagine this generation being coached by Parcells or Bobby Knight ?

?

Bill Parcells will be the first to tell you that you can’t coach every player the same way. He had to be vicious to Simms to get the best out of him, but he had to be careful around Lawrence Taylor because he was a diametrically opposite personality.

I dont think anyone is saying Mims is a very good WR at this point. But he is a developing one. And right now his development looks stunted.

Some guys take a year or two to develop. Mims showed flashes last year and now his morale looks low. Maybe it's self inflicted. Maybe it isnt. But Saleh looks like a worse head coach than Mims does as a WR. Not sure why I would have any confidence in Saleh's ability to develop players.

Time will tell.
