This is stupid. All of it.

$100 Rex retweets with a time and address to a Long Island Applebee's parking lot.

as I just posted in the other thread  Rex should reply yes I know where to find you at the very bottom of the division

How stupid can a person be?

Rex took over that "good Mangini roster" that was 18th in the league defensively. He turned it into by far the best group in the league and it was 17th best all time in 2009. To credit Mangini for that group's success is insulting.

Robert Saleh took over the 24th ranked defence and has turned it into by far the worst in the league. The last 4 games have been the worst 4 game stretch by any NFL team in history. Think of all the awful teams you have ever seen and realise we've given up more points/yards than any of them ever have in a 4 game span. That is impressively terrible.

Rex is completely f*cking right in everything he said. Obviously it's his job to be provocative but where is the lie? He was compared to Saleh, by fans and media alike. His point that people said "this guy is a lot like myself, but without the bad part" is completely true, those exact sentiments were expressed on here. He's right to be insulted by the comparisons when these are the results.

Saleh being so insecure about the criticism that he's challenging a TV pundit to a fight says a lot about his state of mind right now. He's completely in over his head and this whole season has left him completely exposed. He has to go.

I think Rex forgot he has a 46-50 record as the coach of the Jets.

which is 3rd best in the franchise.

maybe some one should tell him about his franchise leading 6 playoff games, 4 playoff wins, and 2 AFCCGS.

Saleh needs to tell his brother to stay off Twitter. None of this is helping him.

Rex has always been known for making outrageous comments-he’s now part of the media so you take it with a grain of salt.

I don’t think Saleh sounds tough at all with his response to Rex. Obviously it pisses him off, but part of his job is to absorb it portray professionalism and confidence to the public.

This is the first headline I read when I woke up this morning.   And this is why Saleh needed not to respond.  So dumb

It's literally Rex's job to provoke this sort of sh*t. He'll be absolutely thrilled with this.

Saleh, a 2-7 coach overseeing one of the worst defences in NFL history, wont call out any of his underperforming players but challenges a 58 year old man to a fist fight because he criticised him on the picture box.

What a f*cking joker. Hopefully this is the sort of sh*t that could get the Johnson's to act.

Good for Saleh,

No reason to take any sh-- from a loudmouth that can't' find an NFL coaching job.

Just continued confirmation that getting rid of Rex when we did was the absolute correct thing to do. Zero character, what an embarrassment as a man. To be so critical of another HC when Rex was in the same position and failed miserably when it were his players. I am so glad that I do not have top root for such a pathetic human being with such character flaws. Kicking people while they are down, what a sh*tty person Rex is. I will take being patient and continuing to support Saleh and his high character through these growing pains over a jerk like Rex any day of the week.

Rex is trying desperately to stay relevant Robert Saleh just helped him by reacting the way he did. Now we can debate who’s got the duller brother as well.

Yeah but like, Rex Ryan gets paid to make hot takes.  It's literally his job.  Robert Saleh gets paid to coach the NY Jets, not respond to blow hard talking heads who's job is to stir the pot.  Saleh challenged him to a fight.  Idk, from my perspective, Saleh seems like the petty child here, not Rex.

Mike Greenberg, Damien Woody and Bart Scott routinely go off on how inept the Jets and how bad the coaching is, are they pathetic human beings?

Haha.

Imagine thinking that it's Rex who comes out of this looking bad.

"High character" = Asking for a fight with a man more than 15 years older because he called out his garbage performance on TV. And was right. Rex never fell anywhere close to this level so no, "in the same position" he outperformed him in every area. To be regarded as a defensive specialist and have the 32nd ranked unit is humiliation beyond belief.

Saleh looks like an absolute punk. Real tough guy. If he had any self respect he would resign in shame.

Rookie Blair Thomas was having a great game on Monday Night Football against the Bears midway though his rookie season. He fumbled late in the game and it cost the Jets a victory. HC Bruce Coslet benched Thomas and publicly humiliated him in his press conference and after. Blair Thomas, who was struggling his rookie season but showing promise went into the tank and was never the same.

We have mostly rookies and second year players who have failed as of late but have also shown promise. Do you really think it productive for a HC to be critical of rookies publicly when they are showing promise?

I guess its all in they way they are critical. Is it productive or mean spirited kicking people when they are down? He did the same job in the same market.  I am critical of Saleh. Cant understand how he seemingly has no outward response  to multiple times his QB being hit well after the whistle/late hit. The Denzel  Mims situation was perplexing and seeing JFM in coverage makes me question. Delay of game on 4th and inches was a tough one as well. I just think there is a productive way and Rex' was mean spirited, childish but I shoulkdnt be surprised.

Sorry, thought you were here to debate intelligently. Yeah, you're correct, Saleh should resign after 1/2 a season with mostly rookie players coming  off a 2-14 season.

There is nothing productive that comes out of any show, podcast, or platform where these talking head bozo's make hot takes.  They're low grade entertainment for the mindless and that's it.  They dont provide value in any way, shape or form.  None of their takes mean a damn thing, at all.  Rex Ryan is an irrelevant talking head personality who's words have absolutely no bearing on anything, whatsoever.  That is until, you recognize them and legitimize them by responding to it.  And that's exactly what Saleh did by challenging Rex to a fight in response.  100% Robert Saleh is in the wrong here.  Rex was just doing his job.

I think Saleh was in a no win situation. If he doesnt respond fans would be critical and say he is weak and is allowing a former HC from the same organization walk all over him, if he does, he is engaging in childish behavior. He responded by saying he never met him and if Rex wants to speak to him he knows where he is. Didnt specifically call him out for a fight but we can interpret.

He’s taken a mediocre defence and it’s now the worst in football. Youth is no excuse, Gregg Williams had an even younger front 7 and it wasn’t getting blown off the ball on every play. The unit has regressed inexplicably.

You think it’s a mature response to ask for a fight with a guy who criticises you on TV?

What exactly did Rex say that was wrong?

There’s zero reason to get into a pissing match with Rex Ryan of all people.  None.  You can’t fall for the bait like that, especially here in NY.  Made no sense.   As soon as he makes those comments about Rex what do we see?  The rest of the talking heads start slamming Saleh as well, Cowherd plays copycat and goes after him.   Why bring that kind of attention to an already s**ty situation?

If the Jets are non-competitive against a poor Miami team it’s going to be open season on Saleh.

I can see your point and would agree. In hindsight, maybe Saleh should have responded by saying "I will not dignify that with a response." or just say nothing. He didnt, he's human and I dont think what he said was earth shattering-ly cringe worthy

I find that any productivity and knowledge that comes out of any show, podcast, or platform is when it comes from @GREENBEAN , @bla bla bla (Ryan), Matt O'Leary, Jets Media, Jets X Factor, @JetsNation, and Let's Talk Jets Radio on YouTube. All true Jets fans who are knowledgeable and reasonable with no agenda

Rex is a troll, half the fan base are trolls, certainly no win but someone like Rex is best left to his own demise. He’s insecure to a fault and has no other way to get attention than doing things like this. This has been his thing since Saleh took over. I agree Saleh’s  comment was interpreted  wrong by the garbage we call media nowadays, but certainly a situation were a dismissal with as few words as possible would work. Even something like,” hey, you got your turn, now I get mine, good luck on your next head coaching gig.”

As I am reading more and more on it, Saleh should have responded like you mentioned or "That comment doesnt deserve a response, I have more important things on the agenda like getting our team to win", something along those lines.  Saleh put himself out there to be criticized by saying "He knows where to find me" because it could be interpreted as he wants to continue this and physically fight. I also believe if Saleh says nothing half the fan base and media would deem him as weak and being walked on.

I think Robert Saleh is more frustrated with the way his team is playing, and he's also seeing the pressure cooker being an HC in this town is.

Rex was wrong for getting personal and involving and comparing himself to the current HC, pretty much kicking the guy when he's down. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

I don't think they were fighting words from Saleh, more like "he knows where to find me" as in I'm sitting at his desk and chair in his old office and you don't work here anymore sucker!

I agree. A pissing match with Rex Ryan is a losing situation.  I wouldnt call one response a "pissing match" but also could have been handled with a better response. It needs to end here for Saleh, no more responses no matter what. He responded, we can critique it but definitely needs to stop here on Saleh's part or he becomes the undeniable loser in this situation

It will be interesting to see how espn locally handles this. They are considered the jets home network so obviously there are ties to the org. They also employ rex and benefit the longer this goes on. To me, saleh said his peace and should leave it at that. No more comments. ESPN just wants to use him at this point for their gain.

Lol, I did not look at it that way. That is pretty clever if Saleh meant his words like that.

On another note, I thought it was cringe worthy early on after he was hired when Saleh stated "He wants adversity." He's got it now

Rex has been compared to him though, those exact lines - Saleh being like Rex but without the negative sh*t - That all happened.

He’s entitled to take issue with that. He was a great defensive coach and he was equated with a guy who just overseen the worst 4 game stretch in the history of NFL defence.

People acting like the media are going hard in Saleh when this is tame compared to what Gase went through. And even Gase’s offence was somehow better than this defence, which is astounding.

“Kicking while he’s down” - What is this, high school? He’s a professional who’s doing extremely badly at his job. It comes with the territory that if you’re the very worst at your job in New York there will be scrutiny. Saleh handled it in the worst way possible.

Hey fwiw.. I'm also chimed in with my opinion on how different a job of being a head coaches as opposed to being a coordinator or an assistant coach. Not questioning anybody's knowledge or love for football but there is a huge difference. Saleh isn't out there telling guys to tackle dummies!

He's delegating those responsibilities to other people now. He's doing lots of paperwork he's talking to the media every day, he's talking to the training coaches about injuries, the nutritionists, chartering planes, hotel rooms whatever department that is he's on the horn with those people.

I've seen the boss's job and I don't want it! LOL. I think our HC made a conscious decision to not be all rah rah and flexing on the sidelines. He's a rookie himself and he's just finding his way. If Rex thought that up himself then what he did was wrong. Taking a dig at a fellow comrade and he should know how hard it is and what he said isn't helping. He made it about himself.

Unless this is kayfabe like pro wrestling and Woody gave Rex a call and said start some s*** with this guy to juice the team up to get behind him, then Rex deserves the dunce cap. I don't blame Saleh for standing his ground.

I know that at points in my life where I was getting my ass kicked, I definitely didn't need somebody to stick their nose in and say hey buddy you're getting your ass kicked!!

If I was Robert Saleh I would call Rex's agent and offer him the Defensive Coordinator position!!
