Here's an honest question for you: would you rather Zach and the Jets to fail and finish in the basement, or would you rather Zach be decent and the Jets be competitive this coming season? I don’t WANT Zach to fail. I’m just fairly confident he will. Fortunately, I do think the other 52 spots on the roster look pretty good, and this team might just be a “good QB away”. Am I a Jets fan still, or do I fail to meet the standard?

I don't think there's a standard. Only you know what's truly in your heart. Not sure how you can be "fairly confident" he will fail after one turbulent season that all rookie QB's go through. I suppose you also saw something in Josh Allen in his similar first season where you knew he'd be great. I wish I had your crystal ball, it would surely save me a lot of agony. Justin Herbert didn't go through much turbulence his rookie year, despite playing behind the # 32-ranked Offensive Line and for a HC that ended up getting fired after that season. It'd be nice for this franchise to have a rookie QB who actually shows something his rookie year.

But I do hear you about wanting rookie QB's to show something here in their first season. I get it. Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith - I wanted to stick a fork in my eye. Darnold, much like Zach, I held out hope for (after season 1). Deep down I knew, but I kept the faith. Except in Zach I believe, it's not just hope. I'm guessing you think Zach doesn't have the head for the game, because you truly can't question his physical talent. I can relate to that. I guess I was just caught off guard by all doom and not a shred of gloom. I believe he most certainly has a chance to turn himself around. Personally, I haven't heard the fat lady sing yet. He just has to be decent in year two. If that doesn't happen, the curse is real.
