The All Things Zach Wilson Thread: MERGED

So youre a mindreader or a soothsayer.  Why would they keep Lawrence but the Jets wouldnt keep ZW?  Just because.

Jones is the least talented QB in that draft.  One season on a stacked team, not having to do more than dumping off doesnt change that.

This dumping off narrative really chafes my inner thighs. You do realize that Mac Jones is ahead of Brady, Mahomes, and Justin Herbert in YPA right? Also his Adjusted Air Yards Per Attempt is ahead of Mahomes and Herbert, although Brady has him beat on that one.

Oooooh spent some time in Bad Heilbrunn and Bad Tolz.  Some outstanding pilsners.

Bad Tolz spent lots of time in. Adorable little town. Great mushroom foraging up the mountain past the cow pastures, if you know it well.

Roger's doesn't have Covid toe.  He was on Pat McAfee show and joked that he had covid toe.   They both laughed about it. He fractured it while working out while he was out for covid. But of course,  our fear porn media ran with the covid toe story. And some of you live in the media bubble and still believe them.

Nothing you're suggesting is "rooting against" Zach.  It's expressing frustration and disappointment with him.  Again, those are different things.  It's also not rooting against Zach to think another player may be better than him.  Also, the Mac Jones comparison is limited and somewhat intellectually dishonest because it compares a very thin number of items, even including a Wilson rushing TD without acknowledging it as such.  Pointing this out is also not "rooting against" Zach, it's injecting reality into the discussion.  You can root for something without being optimistic it will happen.  If I buy a Mega Millions ticket, I'm not rooting for the loss because I don't think my numbers will hit.  I'm being hopeful, but realistic.

As for the statement about fans never being happy - I hear that a lot.  Here's what I think.  Why don't we wait and see what people do when we actually get good QB play.  Lets see if people are upset by it.  The team had 2 wins last year, they've got 3 this year.  It's hard to get a read on what people will feel if they get 11-12 wins when we're no where close to that.  Jets fans will never be satisfied is a silly thing to say when the team has given us no opportunity for satisfaction.

And yes, we won.  But, some people, myself included, are more interested in good play.  Good play will lead to more wins.  Bad play will lead to more losses.  It's a rare instance that bad play leads to wins, and, outside of a playoff game, or in a competitive season, it's not something a lot of us will celebrate.  This year, I'd take good play and a loss over bad play and a win every single week.  I don't think that's not being satisfied, I think that's looking at the big picture.

I get it, but when people are bashing players before the season starts, or calling them names like midget or lazy, or whatever it is rooting against them. When the player does the same as a QB that everyone is talking about as rookie of the year and people talk about the wins, but when he wins, they talk about the play it is either rooting against him or it is unrealistic expectations.

When the player does well after all of the growth issues and the same people don't post or move on to the next player that isn't HOF after 8 weeks, that is rooting against him.

I am as frustrated as most on the lack of growth of both Zack and the team, but I don't think he is the worst QB ever, or that Saleh and JD should be fired, or that Mac Jones is a better prospect. The difference is that I knew this was going to be a rough year for Zack and that the Jets would only win 3-4 games - so I guess I have different expectations. Zack may turn out to be a bust, but no way do we know that now; and no way does his poor and erratic play make him the worst QB in the history of the Jets. Any QB is going to struggle on this team (some more than others). A rookie QB more so. Just my opinion.

That TD wasn't him sucking it up?

I don't think I've heard him complain about the knee, just a random poster on a Jets fan forum asking a question.

Btw, both Rogers and Baker have repeatedly mentioned their ailments, making excuses.

Didn’t mean it towards Zach, more the spirit of just everyone get out there dinged up and ball out anyway

Dare to dream.

What will probably happen is Josh Allen pulling a Josh Allen on the Jets

He kind of did it last year too when the Bills destroyed the Phins 26-56, but the meaty part was the 2019 regular season finale for the Bills:

Although that was an ugly game, we need to see an explosion

Honest question did Josh Allen ever look this bad like he didn't belong on the field?  Did he struggle with pocket presence and completing easy passes or did he just make bad reads and throw interceptions?  Because I don't remember him being this level of bad.

He mostly ran around like a chicken without a head....His running ability carried him more through his rookie year than anything else.

ZW seems to be going out of his to not have that as a part of his game.

Can't claim to have watched a ton of 2018 Allen but when you're the 2nd worst-rated QB in the league, you had a bunch a sh*tty games.

Yeah this is what I mostly remember from his first few years running around a lot and poor from in the pocket.

On occasion,  yes.

But he was still a 6'5, 240lb Man-animal with a ******* cannon and a truck stick.

I’m surprised to see a Zach Wilson thread started by this poster. Given all his other “work” denigrating, well, Zach Wilson. Shocked to see it.

Hey, everyone wants to have some hope... We can't go through another 3 years of watching another Sam Darnold. I for one was a huge Darnold supporter as well and I'll tell you that if Zach doesn't pick it up, then I'll be calling for him to be benched.

It's in his head I truly believe that. If he can cure that, I think we'll see a completely different ZW.

Fair, but his limitations during his rookie year were his inaccuracy and boneheaded decision making. I don't see how him being 6'5 and 240 lbs helped improve that stuff. I think he worked hard and they improved the team around him.

He threw the ball harder and wild AF. Dude would throw a nice deeP ball then toss a slant through the stadium wall.

Seriously, all these haters trying to kill any positive comment of hope about Zach. Sad.

It doesn't help, cause just look at the physical specimen Hack was... Doesn't mean he's a football player. I agree completely that Allen worked hard plus a good coaching staff and some good pickups, helped him be what he is today.

Never trust a QB with frosted tips or rosy cheeks.
