Jones is the least talented QB in that draft. One season on a stacked team, not having to do more than dumping off doesnt change that. This dumping off narrative really chafes my inner thighs. You do realize that Mac Jones is ahead of Brady, Mahomes, and Justin Herbert in YPA right? Also his Adjusted Air Yards Per Attempt is ahead of Mahomes and Herbert, although Brady has him beat on that one.

It's expressing frustration and disappointment with him. Again, those are different things. It's also not rooting against Zach to think another player may be better than him. Also, the Mac Jones comparison is limited and somewhat intellectually dishonest because it compares a very thin number of items, even including a Wilson rushing TD without acknowledging it as such. Pointing this out is also not "rooting against" Zach, it's injecting reality into the discussion. You can root for something without being optimistic it will happen. If I buy a Mega Millions ticket, I'm not rooting for the loss because I don't think my numbers will hit. I'm being hopeful, but realistic. As for the statement about fans never being happy - I hear that a lot. Here's what I think. Why don't we wait and see what people do when we actually get good QB play. Lets see if people are upset by it. The team had 2 wins last year, they've got 3 this year. It's hard to get a read on what people will feel if they get 11-12 wins when we're no where close to that. Jets fans will never be satisfied is a silly thing to say when the team has given us no opportunity for satisfaction. And yes, we won. But, some people, myself included, are more interested in good play. Good play will lead to more wins. Bad play will lead to more losses. It's a rare instance that bad play leads to wins, and, outside of a playoff game, or in a competitive season, it's not something a lot of us will celebrate. This year, I'd take good play and a loss over bad play and a win every single week. I don't think that's not being satisfied, I think that's looking at the big picture. I get it, but when people are bashing players before the season starts, or calling them names like midget or lazy, or whatever it is rooting against them. When the player does the same as a QB that everyone is talking about as rookie of the year and people talk about the wins, but when he wins, they talk about the play it is either rooting against him or it is unrealistic expectations. When the player does well after all of the growth issues and the same people don't post or move on to the next player that isn't HOF after 8 weeks, that is rooting against him. I am as frustrated as most on the lack of growth of both Zack and the team, but I don't think he is the worst QB ever, or that Saleh and JD should be fired, or that Mac Jones is a better prospect. The difference is that I knew this was going to be a rough year for Zack and that the Jets would only win 3-4 games - so I guess I have different expectations. Zack may turn out to be a bust, but no way do we know that now; and no way does his poor and erratic play make him the worst QB in the history of the Jets. Any QB is going to struggle on this team (some more than others). A rookie QB more so. Just my opinion.
Popular Post jgb
So Allen is thrown around a lot as "evidence" that Wilson will (or at least can) be a good QB. Wilson is currently lowest rated QB in the NFL by QBR, Allen was 2nd worst his rookie year. Ok, so good so far. Much has been made by some that Wilson has made some "wow" throws. I posit here and now for all time -- subject to mockery or future victory lap -- that individual throws are not "flashes" for an NFL QB. Anyone paid $650,000 (NFL minimum) or much, much more better be able to throw an occasional pass that makes mere mortals whistle. A "flash" is a signature game where a young, otherwise-struggling QB, takes over and shows out as the best player on the field or at a minimum on his team. Did Allen have one such game as a rookie? Indeed, he did. In the final week of the regular season in 2018, the 5-10 Bills faced off against the 7-8 Fins. Both were eliminated from the playoffs, this is true, so any argument that the Dolphins had "hung up their cleats" and rolled over would be cancelled out. Keep in mind the Fins had given up the 4th lowest points per game at that point (although this game would drop them to #6). Allen accounted for 5 TDs. 3 passing, 2 on the ground. He did indeed have 1 INT. He threw for 224 yards, which is pedestrian on its own, but with an elite 8.6 YPA and a 65% completion percentage. Please remember that many here attributed Allen's emergence as a FQB to the acquisition of Diggs two years later. The 2018 Bills' weapons were terrible. Leading receiver: Zay Jones -- 652 yards. Leading rusher (other than Allen himself) a fading Lesean Mccoy -- 514 yards. Was Josh Allen perfect? No. Was he the best player on the field that day? Indisputably as he led the Bills to a 42-17 drubbing of the Fins. That's what we want/need to see from Zach. Can he deliver a flash game like Allen did his rookie year rather than a few, isolated flash throws? Even Geno (wk. 5 v. Atlanta) and Darnold (wk. 15 v. Green Bay) had one in their rookie seasons. He has six games to do it. Wouldn't it be sweet if he does it the final week of the season against Josh Allen's Bills? He needs it for a credible belief that he can take the Allen-route to greatness IMHO. And we all want him to have it. Please Zach, we are all desperate to believe. I'm eternally hopeful but yes, also skeptical. 9

undertow
Honest question did Josh Allen ever look this bad like he didn't belong on the field? Did he struggle with pocket presence and completing easy passes or did he just make bad reads and throw interceptions? I for one was a huge Darnold supporter as well and I'll tell you that if Zach doesn't pick it up, then I'll be calling for him to be benched. It's in his head I truly believe that.
