what play are you talking about? The Davis Td? He was open, in fact he re routed him to get open. You are literally re inventing things in your head brother. I saw how giddy you were on YouTube after the Tennessee game, never seen you happier. Now they were bad decisions? You’d rather him check it down there? lol. None of those plays were bad decisions, they were amazing plays. Criticizing them is just self loathing.

I was and still am excited for what we saw in the Titans game, he's a freak off script. All I'm saying is he will pass up the high % play for the home run. That is what I mean by reckless.

I'd have to go back and look at the all 22 again to give you exact plays but I remember one to Cole where he had Davis wide open for a TD but either didn't see him or chose not to throw it. Still completed a beautiful pass but it's fair to criticize him for missing the read. Reckless was probably the wrong word to use.

This is an old narrative - if you watched last game he wasn't doing that - he played very smart last week.  Checking down when necessary, throwing the ball away at the right times....

When people say he hasn't gotten better they are absolutely wrong.  He is playing smarter football.  He's making smart decisions and truthfully it's not really even a processing issue as so many are saying.  He's getting through his reads more quickly (still has work to do but it's getting better)

His biggest problem, right now, is accuracy.  He's clearly having issues.  Particularly on the short/check downs.  In this offense that's a really big issue.  He can't seem to get into a groove because of it - the whole offense just looks choppy.  The big throws and big plays will be there and he'll continue to hit them - off platform will be icing on the cake.

For me, what's holding him back from starting to look good is if he can get his head on straight.  He's aiming the ball and not throwing it.   If he starts to trust himself and let it rip we'll start to see a different ZW.

Or…..we’ll see a different QB.Law And Order Svu GIF by NBC

Seriously though, this is right.

I mean if he continues to to badly miss 5 and 10 yard passes in the flat you can't keep him on the field.

I think he gets the rest of this year regardless, and he'll get a few games next year...but if he can't consistently and make short throws three weeks into next season he'll be pulled.  As he should be. This doesn't seem to be a problem in practice and clearly wasn't in pre-season. To me, that'll just tell me the kids not a gamer at that point.

But he def needs time to work through it.

The woke mafia will try and tell you that a QB rating of 62.9 is “bad” and that it is “by far the worst in the sport,” but that is just their corporatist, socialist groupthink talking

Does anyone even know what a QB rating really even represents?

For his development and the ability to evaluate the other young players on a rebuilding team, he shouldn’t have been handed the starting job. Literally everyone would’ve benefitted from them drafting him and saying he wouldn’t touch the field from day one.

He’d have been able to work on mechanics, going through reads, and learning the offense to the point that when he saw the field he’d still be developing but he’d be more comfortable playing within structure. And he’d come in behind an offensive line that’s gelled a little and with the benefit of a run game that seems to be clicking instead of figuring out Van Roten was a disaster mid season and making a desperation move.

LaFleur would take less crap for the playcalling. Saleh and Douglas would have momentum and young players showing well with a talented young QB in their back pocket. Would be so much more fan base patience. Watching AVT and Moore playing well this year would be fun, some folks would call for Wilson to play, beat writers would put together some puff pieces. Then they could fill out the roster this offseason with cap space and two first round picks, have the offensive system installed, and then put in a talented young QB who who’s better prepared to play.

Totally agree ... we should.have redshirted him while the team was constructed ... but that is water under the bridge now.

He just dropped a 9.8 QBR vs. the worst team in Football.  His RAW in the game vs the worst team in Football was a 6.8.

There is no actual measurement that says he's improving other than your feelings.

Get out of here with your 20th century mindset. Feelings are the new facts.

Clearly this is a take one step back to take two steps forward situation.

Not to worry, everyone!  The FDA promised a new "rushed approval" for Zach's performance.  Turns out it was both "safe" and "effective"!

I pulled a hammy just imaging the mental gymnastics it must take to believe both at the same time that:

  • Mac Jones is a limited player who has already achieved his ceiling and is being dragged along by an elite environment
  • Zach Wilson is a hyper-talented stud who cannot get up off his floor unless dragged along by an elite environment

He also flunked the eye test.  Analytics aside, on a subjective note, he wasn't very good.

So hypertalented.  Did you see those throws facing a Texans team trying to lose on purpose?
