Not in his head. He is 11 for 11 on FG inside 40 yards.

Nothing to screw up your head inside 40.  Anyone can make those.  Its the ones outside of 40, the ones that seperate the long term solutions from the journeyman Ks

There's a difference between being accurate and being precise

Anybody can make them, but can anybody make them consistently? I don't think so. As many have pointed out, this league has a bunch of crappy kickers and not many good ones. Sure they can all make ones inside of the 40, but how many of them are reliable inside the 40? Alex Kessman wasn't, he even missed easy PATs to the point they didn't even bother trying with him on the 3rd TD against the Eagles. Ammendola would have made those. If you're relying on your kicker to do FGs longer than 40 yards consistently, it's not his fault. Plus, if it's in his head, that can be fixed with time. Veterans tend to be wiser players (Most of the time) and learn what works and what doesn't.

From 40 in?  Yeah, most K's can.  Very few are missing from 40 in.  45 and out, thats a whole different story

Seeing that JD has had trouble finding K's that can kick from 40 in, Ammendola was probably our best shot. Head cases can be fixed, but if a K can't kick from in the 40, that's also a whole different story

The history of the NFL is littered with Ks who are head cases and never are fixed.  Maybe he can be.  I would hope so but wouldnt be surprised if he couldn't

Our situation at kicker is a bit maddening but it's also completely irrelevant right now because we're not in playoff consideration (and wouldn't be even if we had the best kicker in the league).   This is the time to have issues at kicker.

When we draft Arch Manning in 5 years, then this will be a legitimate concern.  Until then, just think of our kicking game as a circus act to be enjoyed.
