Zach Wilson Wins Pepsi Rookie of the Week: MERGED

Recommended Posts

I'll be honest, "X of the Week brought to you by Pepsi, Amazon, Trojan Condoms and Mom's Instant Mushroom-Flavored Soup" are just dumb, 100% marketing-product-selling-driven "awards" that mean almost less than nothing.

NFL Rookie of the Year, that means something (not alot, honestly, but something).

Good for Zach, truly.  Maybe it helps him build his confidence.

He still needs to do materially better vs. the Saints Sunday than he did in this "of the week" butt kicking by the Eagles.

Yeah not bad...let's hope he can improve the rest of the way and give us some serious confidence in him going into next season.

Agreed. It would be awesome if he wins another one or even two. Jones or Parsons are going to win ROTY, but winning week by week is still very good

Zach Wilson is now tied with Geno Smith for Pepsi Rookie of the Week awards and remains two behind Mark Sanchez, who achieved this honor three consecutive times!

Good luck, Zach Wilson.

He also joins Jets legends, Victor Hobson and Erik Coleman in this honor and must win it 8 more times this season to take the title from Justin Herbert (8).

Sam Darnold (0) remains tied with Jets Legend Christian Hackenberg (0).

Congrats to Zach Wilson, who is now one Pepsi Rookie of the Week behind Mark Sanchez, and two ahead of Sam Darnold.

Unfortunately, he is mathematically eliminated from catching Justin Herbert (8).  Injuries robbed him of greatness!

Agreed, it doesn't mean a whole lot of anything...

But in a bad season like this it's nice see your young QB, who's been taking some much abuse, have something positive.

Sad to see the fans of the team seemingly unhappy about it (not saying you are)

No, not unhappy at all.  Like I said, I hope it helps bolster Zach's confidence and drive him to additional much-needed improvement.

I just think the award (brought to you by....Depends!  When you need to piss yourself regularly, Depends is the one you can Depend on!) itself is sorts dumb.

We can debate internally about the exact level of improvement Zach showed vs. the Eagles.

But I think we'd all agree, a 60%, 226 yard. 2 TD 1 INT lopsided loss isn't really "award worthy".

So it's the award, not that Zach won it.

Yet for some reason people like it.

And you comment.  Even though there is nothing gained or lost.  Hell, theres three pages from todays thread that Kiper moved someone to the top of his draft list, a meaningless list if its the morning of the draft but means even less in early December

So these campaigns work, they get people talking.  Which isnt meaningless

Agreed, it really doesn't mean much of anything.

But as a Jet fan, would you prefer to see him WIN these types of awards (as useless as they are) or prefer he NOT win these types of awards.

So weird Jet fans either dunking on Zach for winning it or dunking on the award because it's worthless.

It's a thing, I'm moderatley happy he won it.  As useless as it is.  Better than not winning it.

Agreed. Even if it doesn't mean anything, it might mean something for Zach, and that's honestly all that matters here. If Zach can take that to heart and play better with that in mind, then the award isn't useless

Rhamondre Stevenson single-handedly murdered every Bills player, but ok sure

Hardly.  You have to stop listening to Riddick, he was licking Stevensons balls as he ran for just over 3 per carry.  A beastly performance

Mac Jones had about a 67% comp rate and 8.5 yards per completion stellar numbers, he deserved it.

He also had 2 total completed passes and 19 yards while playing the whole game

It's all in the eye of the beholder

The Bills knew it was coming, though. This isn’t a rip on Zach, but the Pats backfield that game was balls out
