Potential NFL game disruptions with COVID surge?

(This is not a COVID debate thread.  Simply talking about impact of players being put on list, facilities being closed and the possibility that today's MNF game was potentially going to be rescheduled, but it's not.)

All of the info below is from today, 12/13/2021.

I think there's a high likelihood this is going to ramp up quickly.  Not out of the question to see a team or two get hit with 20 or 30 cases over the next couple weeks.

That’s impossible, most of the NFL is vaccinated so unless the vaccination is useless this shouldn’t be happening.

Not going debate what works or what doesn’t. We all have our own personal opinions about this stuff and the risk of the virus. What is not in dispute is that the NFL has rules in place now, and I believe some of them are written into the CBA. They have protocols, they have rules, and we can disagree with them just like we disagree with roughing the passer penalties. Got to live with them though.

The real question to me is how they will handle a situation where a team gets smacked with something like 20 positive cases. Even if everyone feels fine if those players don’t get 2 negative tests in a row then they’re not available.

Do you postpone games, do you cancel them, do you have guys play both ways on offense and defense? What would you do if this is happening next month during the playoffs?

Does this also impact practice? Seems sub-optimal. The line opened at Dolphins -8.5. It’ll be interesting to see if it moves.

Vegas and the betting lines is a whole other dimension to this thing.

We all know the value of inside information, bribes, etc. How would you like to be the testing facility that finds out Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and five other guys on the Chiefs offense just tested positive? ? Do you text your friend to place a bet before the line moves?

That vaccine either works or it doesn’t. There’s no debate or personal, political or any other viewpoint. As far as playing. They’re need to have a clear rules in place to make it fair for everyone. A dirty ass team like the Pats will find a way to use it to their advantage otherwise

Not doing this here, my friend. Max set up a club for this kind of discussion, vaccines, etc. I might agree with everything you’re talking about, this just ain’t the place.

It's the NFL and they will just postpone games a week later just like what we are seeing in the NHL and every other sport. They'll never cancel a NFL game because that hurts their pocketbook.

The real catastrophe is the selfish players refusing to get the third jab for the greater good to end this pandemic.

Agreed 100%.  The question would be how to handle this in the playoffs.

Like I said above, it’s really ain’t the thread to discuss what works and what doesn’t.

”As of November 17, more than 94% of NFL players have been vaccinated, while nearly 100% of NFL personnel have also been vaccinated.”

Sometimes I can't help myself, I just want people to wake up. You have always been a good poster, although you have more restraint than myself. The hampur is still alive and you should check in now and then although I understand why you wouldn't.

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

The issue is the union still wants testing, which basically disincentivizes players from getting the shot. Stop testing vaccinated players.

Was going to say something ridiculous and sarcastic. Instead some basic facts.

At this point between the weakening variants(which is how the 1919 Spanish flu died out) and better treatments, this is no longer  a pandemic.

Unless you're a politician.  I will save you! I love you! Do as you are told! O-FVCKIN'-BEY OR ELSE!

Athletes by defintion are in peak physical health(looking at you, Mekhi Becton!) , most don't have any risk factors and aren't elderly. This is now the flu plus, again, spare, again, politicians. It's another illness people can get, endemic, not pandemic. Enough with the panic porn.

The 3rd jab; is that what Moderna, J&J and Pfizer call rises in their stock prices with each of these successive booster panics? Every TV and cable show is innundated with ads for "the shot". The vaccines are not free. We are paying for all that.
