The "Pepsi Rookie of the Week" Silver Lining

Alright, so now Echols wins this twitter voted "rookie of the week" thing making it 4 times for the Jets this season.  Of course Zach got it twice and Elijah Moore once.  On the one hand it's worth of little more than a shrug.  I mean, hey great, more Jets fans had time to sit around and vote on twitter than the other fan bases.  Hooray.

But on the other hand, the fans aren't the ones nominating these kids.  They're having to play well enough to be considered along with the other three guys every week.  When was the last time this team had a rookie class that anyone in their right mind would have nominated 3 players for a total of four times as the best rookie in the NFL that week?

The h8ters do not want to acknowledge the strong draft of 2021 but I appreciate you digging this up.

There's definitely no reason at all to hate on these, as it's certainly better to have a game that will get you consideration for it, than not.  With that said, the flip side is it's also on it's own not proving some great destiny for anyone who gets the award either (whether with the Jets, or any other team).  Regardless of each side of the argument, it's mostly relevant as one piece of information in a greater picture.

If you go through the history, there is a combination of both future greats and complete busts who ended up taking this award in the past, so can easily enough be used for an argument in either direction.  Obviously we should all be rooting for these guys to be among the best to come from this, but it's of course going to take more to completely change anyone's mindsets in either direction.

the young guys like echolls, hall, carter 1, carter 2, avt, wilson, and moore are all showing some good physical ability and talent.  that's 7 of the starting 22 that the jets won't have to replace before next season.  that's a good thing.  and if saleh is the coach we all want him to be then those same players will have their mistakes mostly corrected by the start of next season.
