Joe Willie White Shoes
I think we need to all let the Becton situation play out. Why some posters take extreme pleasure when Jets players fail is pretty disturbing. And for what? Just to say "I was right?" That is pretty sick. Becton's future with the Jets will be determined by how he approaches the offseason in preparation for 2022. If I were Saleh, I'd force him to stay in NJ and get in shape in Florham Park under the supervision of the training staff. Why is everyone so quick to write him off? What does that prove? It is extremely premature. Why do so many Jets fans get more satisfaction from the team's failures than its success? Do you people root for natural disasters too? Are you COVID fans? Unbelievable. 5 1

This is the NFL, and you're a big part of our plan moving forward. We have a conditioning plan for you, the health and welfare staff have prepared a nutrition plan for you to optimize your performance! We're going to invest as much time and resources into helping you achieve as much greatness as possible, and we want you to be out 15 year Left Tackle, a Pro Bowler, and maybe a Hall of Fame player! What do you say! You ready??!" "Yeah, shiiit, man. I'm HONGRY. Lemme grab some Bell, and then I gotta go see the trainer again. My, uh, feet hurt today and I'm honestly a bit hung over. Lemme see if I feel better next week. But, yeah, uh, thanks coach! It's gonna be great!" Saleh: “Hey man, mind if we can rap a little bit? The trainers told me that, you know, you’re a little bit behind on your rehab and I was like ‘no way, not my guy Mekhi’ ya know? So how about it, buddy? Want to come run some stairs with me this week ha ha ha ha ha??” Mekhi:

If Becton were the toughest guy on the field you’d deal. You can’t take yourself out of games as a left tackle. Even more so when Ferguson was the last high profile LT Jets fans remember. Dog, Aikman had to scream at Erik Williams every game to wake him up. Jimmy Johnson was a psych major in college who knew how to lead a program. Where has Saleh ever had to be the bad guy in a discipline situation? Nowhere.

Force him?? ? You know it's not the Army, right? They can't really "force" anyone to do something they don't want to do. And for all this, "he's young, he's a baby", **** that. This is HIS career. If he can't find the desire to work, to find the discipline to do what it takes, that's on him. Not JD, not Saleh, not the coaches. You have to be WILLING to be coached. You have to have the desire to better yourself and progress in your craft or trade. Nobody can want it for him. I worried about Becton before we drafted him. He was used to just pushing smaller people around, and I believed that when he got to the NFL level, he would get frustrated and then start finding excuses. Well, here we are. That picture of him from a few days ago, he looks like ******* DOGsh*t. He looks like he's been on an Arby's and Hennessey bender for the past month. Physical Therapy/Rehab is an IDEAL situation for getting into shape. You're spending hours in a gym. I know, I destroyed my ankle back in 2011, 2 surgeries, thought my career as a FF was over. Once I started doing PT, I talked to my therapist (Guy named Ben Klein, still a friend) about working in conditioning and upper body strength while at the PT gym. He said go for it. I took advantage so I could get back to work sooner, and in better shape than when I went out. And trust me, they aren't paying Firemen what an NFL LT can make. Dude is LAZY. He's always gotten away with being LAZY. He got his payday. Now he's defaulting back to who he is, the big fat kid. Oh well. Thank God for Fant. THAT GUY is a workout animal and has a chip on his shoulder that drives him.

ScarletKnight89
Pauline says they are "fed up" with him but doesn't really expand besides saying he has a track record of "tapping out" at practice. Is that really it? Surely there is a better reason than that? The guy was terrific last year as a rookie. He got hurt in week 1. He's a big man so he's been slow to recover. I don't see a good reason to get rid of a guy you just drafted in the 1st round over this. Just my opinion.

Yeah I agree. I actually want the team to draft Evan Neal, let him play guard next year and then slide him out to right tackle after next year. If Becton continues to have issues you can move on from Becton after next year and let Neal play left tackle in 2023.

derp
1 hour ago, T0mShane said: I mean, you said it yourself—Saleh ran a soft camp and he’s been a weak fish in-season. A guy like Becton—who clearly needs to be pushed—is going to feast on a mush like that. Say what we want about Becton being soft, but this is a bad harbinger for what’s to come with this staff. I’d think with a millionaire grown man the best way to push him would be by saying if you don’t do things the way we want then you won’t play. Could be part of him not coming back this year. It’s tricky with Becton who seems like he doesn’t love football. Maybe I’m wrong but just seems to be a little flashy, miss snaps, late coming back this year. I don’t think you’re going to motivate him by yelling at him. Presumably he’s playing for a paycheck and that’s the best way to motivate. If that’s the best way to motivate him they’re probably better cutting bait than they are benching - otherwise they’re just decreasing his value - though a move to right tackle is probably a more reasonable middle ground. And after the Adams and Darnold trades I’d think a team would think twice before taking on someone the Jets don’t want.
ChewyandtheJets
A huge man who is not great at pass blocking but can mail in run blocking should probably go to guard not tackle. Right guard in this case since we are set st left. Plug in a new center and we have one hell of an offensive line. That’s what I’d do at least. If it pisses him off because tackles make more dough than all the better.
