Beerfish
So Shaq Lawson is out eh? Another waste of a pick by good ole Douglas
mrcoops
Don't like activating Flacco over White. White should be our long-term backup. Flacco is just counting down the days until free agency and/or retirement.

Desperate times, desperate measures - but entirely understandable in the circumstances.

And a team that is in total rebuild, 'desperate' get you bad moves, like the flacco panic move. It's a small move in the grand scheme of things but these things add up when looking at how effective of a gm you have.

He added a guy for very little cost on a short term lease to provide leadership and pass rush - it was a low risk move. They don't all pan out. Had he done nothing, many would be saying, what is JD hoarding picks for when the team needs help and he doesn't draft well

There are plenty of things to legitimately kick Douglas for - the 2020 draft, the mismanagement of the backup QB position (including that bizarre Flacco knee-jerk trade), the complete absence of TE talent on the roster. But I really can't condemn him for making the Lawson trade, at a time when a major defensive piece had just gone down, for the price of a low 6th round pick. It was a reasonable move at the time, for a player who has performed adequately in the NFL in the past.
