Popular Post jetstream23
So many positives. Really disappointing because it feels like the coaches and players did enough to win today. Solid game planning, really good execution by a lot of guys being asked to play above themselves with so many starters missing. Far from perfect but the HC coached a heck of a game today IMO. Nobody saw the Jets sniffing being within two touchdowns of Tampa. A defense without Quinnen Williams and a very young secondary really made life tough on Tom Brady. It was beautiful. Regarding the end of the game, I have zero problem going for it on 4th down there. How could ya? You could kick the field goal and then watch Brady go 70 yards for a touchdown to take it to OT where the Bucs will likely win (my opinion). Or you could go for it and if you don’t make it force Brady to go 95 yards for a TD and the Bucs win. Or, you take your one shot to close the game out for a young Jets team that has 4 wins this whole season in an early January game. The only issue I have is the playcall on 4th. QB sneak made no sense and was a complete aberration from the masterpiece that ML had been painting the whole game. Zach played very well all game and I would have trusted him rolling out there to make a run/pass decision. Bitching about Saleh for going the distance with one of the best teams in the NFL while he has no QW, Becton, Fant, Moore, Michael Carter, McGovern, tight ends? COMMON man. We didn’t have the horses to compete today yet basically lost by a nose to Secretariat. I’m actually feeling good about how these Jets are playing, both better and harder. 21 5

Gibby
I was entertained. Glad Zach didn’t do another 3 and out lighting fast like his previous two drives. Dumb coaching ( hope he learns from it - but glad he did it. A win today would’ve done nothing. Hoping for a carbon copy next week. ?
Peace Frog
Our entire secondary made up of 1st and 2nd year players. With no pass rush. Not surprised Brady throws for over 400 yards.

Let’s hope that in this lost season they learned something and take that call off the play sheet if the situation ever occurs again
Hex
Saleh said that the sneak was a result of miscommunication, Zach did what he was supposed to but not what the coaches wanted. Popular Post David Harris
I think we have ourselves a franchise quarterback. I can’t believe I just said that. But I think it’s true. I have to pinch myself. Zach had one decent weapon today in Berrios. Looked poised, controlled the game but also displayed his cannon. Good accuracy. No bonehead plays. Competent winning QB play with unlimited upside. keep adding pieces to the offense JD! Support this kid above all else!

GreenFish
It was a really entertaining game. The final minute left a bitter taste in my mouth. Zach looked good. For most of the game, he was out playing Brady.

There's no Carl Lawson out there, no Quinnen Williams. Most of the guys playing were drafted outside of Round 2 or not drafted at all. You could coach me as hard as you want but as a 5'10" 40-something year old I'll never dunk a basketball regardless if I spent a year in training with Dominique Wilkins and Michael Jordan. We just don't yet have the players, @68JET11.

I love the way Echols balls, and Hall with a little teaching could be the #1 CB we need him to be. I like MC2, and Davis... These guys need to be coached up the proper way, not the sit back 10 yards and hope nobody throws it in front of you.

After 8 months with these players I think the coaches know exactly what they have in them. My guess is that in deciding between having the Bucs WRs catch 10 yard passes in front of our CBs or having the Bucs WRs catch 60 yard TDs over their heads the coaches chose the former.
New York Mick
This was the best of both worlds. They looked good today and we’re one play away from a win and they still have the 3rd overall pick.
rtnelson
The Jets were a depleted roster coming in and got beat up even harder as the game went on. But through the whole game up until that last drive they looked like a well coached team that was in a dog fight with a superbowl contender. While it feels sour because we know we should have won the game, this type of game is exactly what we've been looking for since the season began. Well done all around. Resign Berrios please.
BigRy56
There’s so much to like. It's looking like this rebuild might just work. JD and this new staff clearly know what they want and appear to be a cohesive unit on finding talent that fits what they're looking for. The offensive system works. They're running on everyone with third string lineman and all the top skill players missing. Zach is progressing to the point where I'm legitimately excited on what he might become. Secondly, this defense works best with a lead. They need to draft the top edge because those guys are so hard to find, then go all in on the offense with the premium picks. Add a number 1 receiver, a tight end, and another lineman. All of those safety/linebacker projects they drafted this year appear to be developing. Another year in the weight room and the system can do nothing but help. Build the unstoppable offense! Imo, it's going to be shocking how much better this defense plays after they add a top edge and get Lawson back while protecting a lead. I can see a lot of shootouts next year and this team breaking 500. 4

This game reminds me to the T (listen closely youngsters) of when Richard Todd and the young talented team that was being put together around him played a game against the Oakland Raiders that was very similar to today. They had Kenny Stabler and the big bad SB Champion Raiders Beat, put a real scare into them, but had an almost identical outcome as today. Didnt matter to me, I knew that something had definitely clicked and the Jets would be soon fielding very competitive teams that would be a SB threat every year. I actually liked Richard Todd lots of the time and thought he got an overly bad rap. He in no way could make the type of tight window throws on ropes that Zach Wilson can...consistently. Get Happy.

It's amazing how Zach's progress combined with a good game plan and young player's knowing their roles really made the offense look capable today.
