jamesr
For those advocating that we ignore / deprioritize the defense this offseason ... I thought this write up from NFL.com was pretty relevant to our own situation: Quote What's to like: Patriots head coach Bill Belichick went on a massive shopping spree in the offseason and the defense was the major beneficiary of that approach. New England has the league's top scoring defense, and that unit has playmakers at every level. The success of the defense has been a major factor in the first-year success of rookie quarterback Mac Jones. The Patriots haven't had to ask him to carry the team and he's responded by playing like a sage veteran throughout most of the season. There is no mystery to what Belichick wants to do -- pound the football, avoid errors and let his defense dictate the outcome. If we can improve on the defensive side of the ball so that we're not always playing catch up it should help Zach's development no end.
