Popular Post johnnyjet
Contractually they Jets can opt out of the dump in 2025. They need to get back to queens/Long Island. I think the perfect location would be right next to citi field. I know it’s a pipe dream. But it needs to be done 8 2 24 5
bostonmajet
LOL - Does opting out get Woody any of his money back? Then he has to buy property and build a new Stadium? Why should Woody spend all that money just to have his 'own' stadium? 1

Lol. Woody took his shot on the West Side Stadium. He's done trying to get his own stadium. 2

Popular Post NIGHT STALKER
Jets have never had their own stadium...really sucks when you think about it. Those days at Shea playing on the infield was a joke. Could have had a really nice place on the west side but that A-hole Silver killed it. 9 1

ZachEY
The area does not need another huge stadium. A 70-80K person venue on Long Island would be a disaster. The WSS would have been an interesting novelty, but ultimately, it's better that that failed. 1 3 1
Popular Post BigRy56
It’s a no brainer. The Jets dominate the Queens and Long Island area. How about putting the team in the heart of its fanbase rather than making us travel 2-3 hours both way to get to a game? Imagine what a stadium there would look like, we might even have a home field advantage! Just look at how it gets at Islander games 3

I will agree about building anything in Queens being far less than ideal, though.

What do you think would have happened if the stadium were in Manhattan and had half as many seats?

I think people underestimate how bad the traffic actually is to and from MetLife when one lives on LI. I made the drive from central LI to MetLife for every home game for the last 5 years. There were days where I literally spent 6 hours in my car for what is otherwise an hour and a half on non game days. It was brutal. So brutal, in fact, that I gave up after last season. I'd happily get season tickets if they were in NY. I know many fans who feel the same way.

TuscanyTile2
It's crazy to me that the Jets can opt out. Does that mean the Giants can't opt out? I would assume so because what would happen if they both opted out? If Woody does opt out, maybe he'll move the team to London.
heymangold
If the jets want any kind of identity they need their own stadium. It’s sort of a disgrace they share a stadium. Move to central NJ, say the Rutgers area, or move to LI. A NYC stadium would be a disaster IMO.

Matt39
Woody is currently overseeing the worst run franchise in the NFL. You think he gives a sh*t about a new stadium? Let’s win some games first. A new stadium, on LI of all places, is never going to work.

Sadly this is correct, Woody could care less about anyone except himself and no way is he shelling out cash for a new stadium. The stadium really is a disgrace which is party the Jets/Giants fault and partially really bad timing. Met life was finished just before teams learned how to build stadiums so that people actually attend. You cant have a giant, open air, concrete circle that seats 70+ thousand people. You need better bars/restaurants around the stadium, better atmosphere inside, more/better tech and a retractable roof. Im all for having an open air stadium for an advantage in December/January (although I believe there are league rules around opening/closing it) but fans are more fair weather these days and having the roof if its raining, super hot, etc is just what people want. It could also be an advantage for crowd noise.
Larz
That would be awesome if they were considering it, they would already be looking at sites. They would have to start building next year
