WR - DJ Chark Jr. [3 Year Deal = 3-WR Set Starter]

TE - Maxx Williams [2 Year Deal = Depth / #2 Blocking TE]

Draft:

2b. TE - Jalen Wydermyer [Compete & Potential Day 1 Starter at TE, Another Passing Weapon for Zach]

3a. OG - Zion Johnson [Compete & Potential Day 1 Starter at RG, Experience Playing OT]

4a. DT - Travis Jones [At 6ft 3, 335 pounds, Jones Provides Some Size, Run Stuffing Ability That We Currently Lack]

DE - Hutchinson, John Franklin Myers

LB - Hamsahn Nasirideen, Del'Shawn Phillips

LB - CJ Mosley, Jamien Sherwood

LB - Quincy Williams, Blake Cashman

CB - JC Jackson, Brandon Echols, Javelin Guildry, Jason Pinnock

CB - Bryce Hall, Michael Carter II, Justin Hardee

FS - Marcus Williams, Elijah Riley

SS - Ashtyn Davis

Implications: Secondary goes from weakness to strength adding some exceptional veteran talent, with the return of a health Lawson, and whichever pass-rusher we can get at 4, our defense quickly could jump into top 10 discussion. On offense our offensive line could become dominate with Linderbaum holding down the middle, and if Mekhi returns healthy [big IF]. DJ Chark is a very under-rated WR that would give some nice depth heading into the draft, if Jameson Williams falls we should trade up to grab him, which would quickly bring exceptional depth to our WR group. TE gets a complete overhaul as needed. I think this roster would be very competitive.

why cut McGovern to save 10 mil. he played well. ... oh i see it now, your part of the Linderbaum cult. even with a trade back you still want him. but see if we keep McG we have one less hole to fill and a team with many holes.

then you can use 1b on a WR and 2a on a TE and maybe get McBride. then the rest has to go defense. you need more defense on the worst one in history.

i thought LDT was going back to being a doctor?

there not keeping 3 QBs on the roster. they had no choice this year cause you couldn't demote White after Cincy and Flacco after the trade. but i dont see both here next year.

Moses will get more than 1 year either here or probably with another team as they let Becton play RT.

I like your mindset but you can’t label this “realistic”.

Moses will not sign a 1 year deal

Very hard to believe we get either Thibs or Hutch

Don’t see JD paying what it would take to get 2 of the top DBs on the market

Beyond those 3 points, the rest is your opinion and I like generally what you’re trying to accomplish.

The linebacking unit on this team is a joke and you want to keep it exactly the same for next year?

Instead of keeping McGovern you’d rather cut him and draft 2 ol when the team has holes everywhere besides ol which is a top 15 unit in the league? Please let it make sense.

you said the defense will become top 10 in the league when we have the worst linebacking group in the league. How is that possible?

I don’t think Dj Chark really fits this offense well. His route running isn’t good and he’s not a good run blocker. He’s very similar to Robby Anderson.

Lastly “assuming” KT or Hutch falls to 4 is a fairly low chance assumption.

I appreciate the effort though

Thanks, I hate it

To expand:

Your FA plan is terrible. There's exactly zero reason to cut McGovern, who not only played great for us this season but can play G in a pinch; 10M in cap space isn't worth losing that, even if you're planning to draft a center - and you definitely don't want to go into the draft forced to draft one because of the gaping hole you created there for no reason

LDT literally demanded to be traded from a Super Bowl contender because he wanted to play; he's not re-signing with the expectation of being a backup. Moses isn't signing for peanuts this offseason either; we only got him at a discount last year because he was cut so late there wasn't real competition on the market.

Your WR plan is to essentially run it back with the same group plus DJ Chark, who's a straight-line speed guy not a fit for this offense, and who definitely isn't the No. 1 target this group needs to be scary. Maxx Williams is coming off a significant knee injury. And you want to spend No. 1 CB money in FA when half the point of the Jets' wide-nine cover three defense is you can spend less money at CB and focus on pass rush.

In the draft, you're assuming one of the consensus top 2 prospects makes it to 4, which ... ok, it could happen, though it's less likely than both being gone. What do you do if they're not there? Linderbaum is decent value and I'm not one of the people who thinks a third straight 1st round OL would be a waste, but essentially forcing yourself to take him by cutting McGovern means you absolutely can't trade back and hope; if somebody snipes you, welcome to Dan Feeney, starting C. That would be a debacle so you have to overdraft him early.

Bottom line, you have the team misallocating assets in FA and backing itself into a corner during the draft. Not good.

@Doggin94it, all valid points.

With McGovern, OP believes in his talent strongly enough to cut McGovern. While that a huge risk/questionable move, there certainly is value to adding a young center that can grow with zach. You can't downplay the center/qb relationship, the 2 guys that touch the ball every snap.

That said, if that's your plan, you must take linderbaum at 4 if you cut McGovern. You can't risk that he'll fall to 10. Which means your draft and plans get screwed up.

I think the Jets also cut Rankins - it saves $5.4 million against the cap and while he provided some leadership, he didn't excel and he is not the future of this team.

I agree with those that say Moses will not take a deal with the Jets. Heck, he could sign with the several teams, even the Giants, for starter money.

On the draft, unless the Jets are in love with Nasirideen, I see them drafting a LB in the first 4 rounds.

As to free agent WR, if the Jets don't break the bank for Allen Robinson - who is the most attainable #1 WR on the market - I will be greatly disappointed. It makes Corey Davis better because, face it, he is not a #1 and a starting 3 WR of Robinson, Davis and Moore would be the kind of getting weapons for the young QB that is supposed to happen.

Quite possible. If, as expected, we get at least one edge in the draft, with Lawson coming back, I feel like JFM will move inside, Will probably try to bring back either Foley or Sheppard, and will give Marshall more time as well . Didn't look bad at the end when he got into the rotation.
