Ronnie Blair Not Coming Back To Jets

He has a chance to earn more money for this season, put more film out there, and potentially win a ring.  How in the world do you manage to turn that into “he must be pissed at the Jets”?

My thoughts exactly.

Blair vs Williams

Williams who Saleh said should be All Pro 15 starts 7 tackles for loss 12 QB hits

against Buffalo 3 tackles

Blair 3 starts 4 tackles for losses 4QB hits, against Buffalo 4 tackles

Yeah, well, that's just because no one is quintuple-teaming Ronald Blair.

Blair on the other hand had much more of an impact in 2021. The former Robert Saleh disciple was brought in to be a locker room leader who was comfortable in the new scheme.

Although he was injured to start the season, Blair came on strong down the stretch, outperforming players like Shaq Lawson and Sheldon Rankins. The former Niners lineman typically plays defensive end but he’s got the size and versatility to line up inside.

A five-year veteran, Blair finished with one sack and 28 tackles in eight appearances (three starts). Pro Football Focus graded him at a 69.9 on run defense — an area the Jets struggled with over the first half — and a 62.3 overall. He accumulated nine quarterback pressures and 14 defensive stops

I have to admit, that is a nice enough run defense stat.

Even if a team picks him up for the playoffs, that doesn't mean he won't be back with the Jets next year.  Faulty logic here.

Why would he come back after getting a taste of something better?

That's like someone who grew up in Gary, Indiana moving back to Gary, Indiana.

Blair played pretty well, I thought.

He was elevated on gamedays more than any other PS player, got a fair amount of playing time, and contributed when he was on the field.

Did a good job in the running game, and had a little bit of juice in the pass rush too.

When you consider that Blair visited the team whose head coach is Saleh’s best friend, it’s easy to imagine a little under-the-table deal where the Packers get some quality D-line depth for the postseason and the Jets get Blair back for 2022.
