Dunnie
Is it possible a team would trade up to 10 to get him?Any chance this kid falls to the 2nd round?... we could take him and essentially give us an RG3 / Cousins situation. 1
WestCoastMole
I think almost everyone around is satisfied with Zach. The only question is will the Jets keep Mike White or Joe Flacco or both as the backup(s) QBs next year. 1

Be a good backup ... and also could be developed for trade or to take over if Wilson flames out after 3 years..... Richard Todd, Ken OBrien, Chad Pennington, Mark Sanchez, Genope, Sam Darnold ... The flip arguement only works if you can increase a players value. Much harder to do when you're already using the 10 pick. Either way it's not happening.
varjet
NFL GMs watch the trends. What Rookie QBs did well last year? Mac Jones and Davis Mills (on a bad team). Wilson and Lawrence were ok-ish on bad teams. Trey Lance and Justin Fields did less well. Malik Willis is more raw like them. He needs to be more like a project and drafted accordingly.
BCJet
I dont see how someone like Willis falls out of the first round, but time will tell once we see him in the senior bow.

A better team could pick him as a developmental project later in the first, like the Ravens did with Lamar Jackson. The smart team to take him is Carolina, because they paid Darnold to play this year. That gives them a year to develop him. But a team that feels the need to start him year 1 could actually damage him and the team.

Which for a player who wont start right away is needed. The cost/year is also much lower to offset the Darnold contract.

I believe credited to John Madden
usapaw
This would be career suicide for JD. It would give the appearance to admitting that you failed on ZW after one year. Not going to happen.
The Crusher
Problem with that is someone always ends up pissed off.

I'd rather build the team around Zach. Then in a couple years if he proves to be a bust (he won't), we will have a complete team ready for a new rookie to step into. 3

Joe Douglas isn’t going to spend a second round pick on a QB this year, he’s going to draft players who he’ll expect to contribute immediately.

BettyBoop
The Chiefs traded up to #10 to select Mahomes who very few saw going that high. They gave up two #1's and a #3. I think that's the sweet spot for trading up this year.
