Used to live in Raleigh , got family down there and vacation at obx ... Asheville is beautiful ... but not much going on there for a Jets fan.  But you can just go to Hendersonville to watch the games with other poor hillbilly slobs.

Seriously ... good luck down there...its nice country .. expensive ..but nice.

I misremembered. Now that I recall it was just CSN but ALSO at the Nassau Coliseum in 1976 or 1977.  Never appreciated how great they were until I was in my 40s (when I met Neil a bunch of times when we were financing the bankruptcy of Lionel Trains and he was the owner, very cool dude but had no use for lawyers) and now I play them back to back to back. My favorite sing, has special meaning.

Peace Frog. Saw them there as well. That tour was a promotion of the CSN album with the picture of the three of them on Crosbys schooner the Mayan. The album contained songs Dark Star , Just a Song Before I Go , Cathedral , To the Whale & a number of other excellent songs. Not a clunker in the collection My opinion is naturally biased but a truly under appreciated album. Give it a listen 👍

Also great song of my favorites as well but then again there are very few of there songs I really don’t like and if I knew how put videos from you tube on here would post a great live rendition of Wooden Ships from the Daylight Again promotional tour of 82 entire concert was great easily top 3 of all time best shows that I have seen and I have been at quite a few of them

That’s the funny thing. We listened to that album back to back sophomore year in college. Loved it. And even though my older sisters played De Ja Vu, So Far, the original Crosby Stills & Nash all the time, never got into them (and when I did it was a revelation. Almost Cut My Hair?!? Come on that’s brilliant. Ohio Woodstock all incredible.  Turned me onto Buffalo Springfield too).

Cathedral is my favorite cut off that album. Maybe urban legend but the story is Graham wrote that whilst tripping on LSD in Winchester Cathedral.

You would probably be better off in a place like Hendersonville, maybe Weaverville or Black Mountain. There’s more of a self-contained feel to those places although I wouldn’t hold my breath for a deli. They just don’t really do deli’s in the south. There might be a couple good ones in this whole area and you’re gonna have to drive to it. Neighborhoods are interesting here. The terrain makes the standard “northern” neighborhood thing fairly uncommon. I swear that babies with bulldozers built this area. Sometimes you find houses in other people’s backyards and down windy roads with junkie trailers. It is nothing like what you’re used to. You’ll definitely find places in closer neighborhoods but they’re not as common and they’re more expensive. I have a great realtor if you need one.

there are lots of bars to watch sports, less than you would think, but still plenty. Let’s stay in touch and I’ll meet you for a few beers next fall.

i really hope you’re able to find what you want down here and that I just haven’t found out all the amazing stuff this area has to offer. I’m an uber-Liberal who enjoys the outdoors and I tend to think moving here was a mistake, but at least I’ll make money on my house when I decide to move again in five years.

Claw that is a great offer and will be certain to keep in touch and get together when we do eventually more there. Thank you for the offer 👍

Frog. Not legend but true story saw Nash tell the story on some late night talk show way way back.
And I agree they are a great , legendary and unique band. One of the finest assembled ever

Charlotte is interesting. I haven’t spent much time there outside of the Carolina game this year. I miss a larger city and all the stuff that comes with it.

I chose Charlotte back in 95.  Hit it at the perfect time. Opened a CPA firm and TONS of people moved here. I haven't looked back.  Great restaurants, breweries, big enough but small enough.  I'll die here. I love it and I hated living on LI as a CPA. Traveling to NYC, traffic all over LI, I was ready to put a gun in my mouth.  So for me, I'm in paradise professionally and personally. We have a JETS fan club here.  Im in the Namath jersey on one knee in the main photo.

Awesome.  Yeah, I drive my kids crazy now over the summer, play them constantly but now THEY are coming around.

Too bad Crosby had to make those comments about Darryl Hannah, Nash never playing with him again and Young taking his side.

Very true but they have been notorious in this behavior just to much bickering over the years and so much music that we could have enjoyed which they all have lamented. Unfortunately it appears that the break up is permanent as they are running out of time to have a reconciliation but hey given their history one never knows. We as fans can only hope they come to their sense before it’s too late

Asheville is great. So much to do around that area. Sad how people can just default to reducing an area to its politics right off the bat. Been all over this country and I've found that most people are kind and welcoming and if they're not that's probably more a reflection of yourself than it is them.

Actually considering a move to Greenville currently. Huge fan of the Carolinas in general.

I know what you are talking about when my daughter was very young ( figure ages 3- 6 ) every Friday it was daddy hits happy hour and when I got home she was in her Jets feetie pajamas we would put CSN or CSNY on the stereo and dance around the house   Remember it as it just happened yesterday and they are still one of her favorite bands. And she got me the new book that is out about CSNY which is a excellent read and also the accompanying vinyl records that are in a boxed set and some sort of download that has quite a few unreleased songs ( some written when he was with Manasas which was another really really great band that doesn’t get enough recognition) outtakes and demos. Nice listening

Rutgers. Agree completely. The whole “ woke “ narrative” as it is framed today make it out to be some sort of a pariah. The way I feel about “ woke “ and it’s definition in today’s political climate is just to treat people no matter their  race , creed , religion or ethnicity is just having common decency to all. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy a good ethnic joke or anything off color as we all,  as a country and nation that is as diverse as we are really shouldn’t take ourselves all that seriously and be able to laugh at ourselves
Relax have a drink, have a smoke , laugh and accept our different upbringings. I think we’d all be better off if that were to happen

Have you been there in last 2 years????   It's changed.  My assistant, who grew up there agreed with the previous post of lazy kids, rich brats etc.  I used to love it, now it's like a small SF. Full of hippies, pot smoke every  where and yes, shootings and non responsive police as they have been defunded.

Very woke. Very expensive. Welcome to NYC politics in the mountains of NC. It is beautiful

Agree completely...UNC Asheville was trying to recruit my son to play baseball there 3 years ago...went on an official visit and there was a heavy WOKE presence on campus and an LGBTQ vibe everywhere...not a criticism, just facts...he chose Clemson instead...different vibe altogether there.  Asheville is in the mountains and they get a good bit of snow there...to each his own...good luck.

Friggin awesome. My Niece just transferred to Clemson. NOT the sharpest tool in the shed, only got about 1150 on SAT's. Went to a community college and with Covid, all these schools have openings. She NEVER would have been able to get in Clemson out of HS. Tell your son he did great!   My 2 girls went UNC and NC State.

I haven't been since pre covid. But there is a Harrah's Casino, in Cherokee, NC about 45 minutes away from Asheville. They just got a sports book in the last year or so. Also has a decent poker room with a few wsop satellite events each year.

Even with circumstances it Doesn’t diminish the achievement of your niece getting into a school like Clemson. She’s in and now the rest is up to her to make the most of opportunity. Congratulations on your both your daughters graduation of those highly prodigious schools

One other question for those of you that moved from out of state to Asheville or any other state for that matter What moving company did you guys use for a long haul move like this?

If you buy a house right away, and not plan on building one great, almost any moving company should work. We didn't have a house picked out, so we rented first when we moved to NC. We found a nice piece of land at a golf course in our area, and built a house. Story for another time, but we did use a moving company from NJ. They stored all our stuff for a good 9 months in NJ, and moved it once the house was built. We rented a U-Haul for the stuff into the apartment and drove it down with one of the cars in tow, and the wife driving the other while I drove the U-Haul.

I'd say the whole process wasn't that smooth, so I probably would do something different next time. Yes there will be a next time, because my wife is almost ready to retire, and I'm so worried about what the housing market is going to do, that I'm willing to get rid of my house and live in an apartment again so that I can sell in a HIGH market. My plan is to move closer to the shore again. I used to be an hour away from Toms River and owned a boat there. Miss that lifestyle so much. I've got the entire east coast scoped out from northern FL to Chesapeake, VA. Now all I have to do is get the wife to take a little time off here and there to take little weekend trips to the different areas, so she can see where she likes.

I spent a few days there a few years ago. It was cool, nothing mind blowing but very cool. I stayed in an airbnb next to the MOOG factory.

This Portlandia transformation is news to me.....

Also, whoever said the music scene there is crap is simply wrong. Its a major stop for mid level bands that kick ass that tour the southeast. Atlanta, Asheville, Nashville stops are very common. if you like grateful dead jam based stuff and funk, asheville has crazy talent

I used Pods for several long moves.

They put the storage things in your yard, you load them up over a few days, one at a time or all at once.  You can hire some local guys to move the heavy stuff.   They ship the containers to your new place, same thing, unload as you want.

It's nice if you want to do some work to your new place (Paint, carpet) as you won't have furniture in the way while you do it.  When I moved to Texas, I just unloaded 2 beds and a TV, painted the whole house with my Dad, and moved stuff in as the rooms were done.

You’re misquoting me to fit an agenda and I’d prefer you stopped if you don’t mind. The lazy ones I was referring to are the older, professional crowd, to be honest. I don’t know how anyone stays in business here. Most kids I come across are working two or three jobs just to survive, they’re not usually any brattier than any other kid out there. It’s the older, money grubbing population here that has stripped this place of everything it was.

You linked the wrong post.... I believe you and I are in lock step agreement.  My post, which you referenced was written to @RutgersJetFan  .Look at your post, look at my post and you'll see it was a quote to Rutgers, not you.  All good!!!

The Carolinas are pretty nice. I lived there for a couple years. Winters are a breeze compared to the northeast. I remember my first Thanksgiving there it was 80 degrees. I thought that was really strange. I lived in Spartanburg county which isn't too far from Asheville. Decent area. A lot of well built and affordable housing in Edward Scissorhand cookie cutter clone subdivisions if that's your cup of tea.

For about 4-5 years we'd do a two family summer vacation in the OBX (Corolla Light) in a massive house right on the beach.

Awesome time but brutally hot--beach in the am--had to leave by noon--back at around 4 or so. Big 12 x 12 canopy.  The house had a pool with an attached hot tub and both were the same temperature--upper 90s.

Good times.

Ohyeah. Lots of growth. I still have family out there.

My nephew moved there, graduated WVU engineering and works for BMW.  My sister and B in law just moved there as well to be near their grandson.  So i now have family there.  When i moved to charlotte in 95, Spartanburg was thought of as the OLD south.  Not any more.
