How long do you all think the Jets will be legit contenders for the playoffs on a year in and year out basis.

The Jets draft like crap and have talent evaluators that are not good at evaluating talent. Until that changes, because the ownership is not, the Jets will continue to be bad. Unless Douglas has an A+++ offseason, nailing every draft pick the Jets will be a 5-7 win team in 2022. The 2020 draft was fireable alone and last years was just OK. You need to be better.

I think we also need to look at the turnover from Mac's scouts to JD's taking over.  While JD was at the top in 2020 he's listening to all the guys who were there for Mac, set up by Mac looking the way Mac wanted it done, because he was a scout at heart and had come up that way.  It took JD over a year just to get his scouts staffed through the organization and get a consistent scouting plan in place for each region.  So what we are going to see is an increase in scouting hits as the roles continue to solidify and the plan comes together.  More guys looking for what we need specifically in each region exactly how the coaches want to find guys can only help.

Too many upgrades to still make. Young guys going to have to come along and gel. It's going to take time. I think 2024 is more likely than 2023.

The trouble is that the staff doesnt have the luxury of time, they might get a pass next year but need a mandate to win in 2023.

The fanbase wont allow a true rebuild

The staff has plenty of time.  They are just starting year 2 of a total rebuild.

And yes there should be expectations in year 3 of a true rebuild.  How long do you thinks this takes?  A decade?

We will be one of the best teams in the league in 2023 and ready to make a nice playoff run.
