Unfortunately for the Jets, Zach Wilson has not shown he’s half the QB Joe Burrow is. So we need a complete team around him at the moment to accomplish that. It can change sure but we knew Joe Burrow was special in his rookie year before he got injured. All bad teams aren't bad in the same way. Burrow won this game in the clutch by being elusive in the pocket and having guys getting open. The Jets’ OL with its 3 returning 2021 starters plus Becton is already better than the Bengals’ OL (and would be if they started GVR again). Fant = was as good in protection as a QB needs. J.Williams is a better run blocker. AVT = just got his rookie lumps in, and is only getting better next year. Quinton Spain is not a comparable talent. McGovern = far better than Trey Hopkins RG = Jets need one. So does Cincy, but from the looks of it GVR would be a noticeable upgrade for them. Becton isn’t a downgrade from Reilly Reiff (at this stage of his career); never mind compared to Reiff’s backup, who’s been the one starting throughout the playoffs. Cincinnatti’s OL is a joke compared to the Jets’ 4 starters heading into FA and the draft. They have at best 2 starter-worthy players on their line. The Jets have 4. And they’re in the Super Bowl. Our upset against them this year notwithstanding, where we most importantly don’t match up with the AFC champs = at QB, WR1, TE, RB, and pretty much all over on defense. I learned that you can’t have a bad o-line AND no weapons. Zach was fairly raw from a small school. Mahomes sat his rookie year because he was raw from a smaller school. Rodgers sat for 3 years. It’s rare for a rookie QB to light it up. Zach improved, that’s what you want. Zach may bust but I’d draft him again at 2 in a do-over. Love his tools, love his flashes, love his work ethic.
