Giants interviewed Patrick Graham before hiring Daboll for Rooney Rule purposes.  What’s the issue with interviewing Flores even if they had already decided to offer Daboll?   Companies do that all the time, what if Daboll declined?

Yeah no idea. Does Flores not realize organizations in every industry continue to interview even after offers are made to satisfy HR?

Listening to the radio now, I think the Ronney rule requires 2 separate interviews.

The previous head coach was black. Racist organizations don't hire a black man and then suddenly only want to hire a white man.

Why Vance Joseph, Not Kyle Shanahan, Got Broncos Job - Sports Illustrated

Miami GM who canned him is also African-American and still has his job. May be his suit has merit, but may be Flores is not a ball of fun to work with.

If the "prominent QB" is Deshaun Watson...it's all very odd. Problem is Flores is taking a torch to his career no matter how big a collection of a-holes,and possibly racist ones at that, the owners may be.

Well he wants money and not to be coaching in the NFL again it seems.

Just very difficult to prove unless they have some smoking gun.

Isn't that already his situation?  I mean, he got fired, so he is now getting paid to not coach.  These guys are lunatics.  Take a break.

So what might be interesting is who joins him in his Class Action.

If two dozen black NFL interviewees join him, then this is not just a story, it's a titanic story.

If no one joins him, he's the new Kaepernick.

But I bet the NFL really didn't want this going down the weeks before the Super Bowl either way.

Keep in mind, no matter how bad this goes vs. the NFL, Colleges will still hire Flores, so it's not like he is REALLY killing his coaching career.  Only his NFL career.

This seems like a Flores issue based on the reports of him not talking to his position coaches towards the end of the season.

2 AFCE teams in recent years had a hiring process where the the outcome of their vaunted leave no stone unturned was.... hiring Adam Gase. So Dolphins may have a valid defense; they aren't racist, but totally incompetent.

Just heard the Giants statement--basically saying "FU Flores" we did everything right, interviewed a wide and diverse group of candidates and Flores was in the discussion down to the 11th hour between he and Daboll before they chose Daboll.  Confident that they fully complied.

I agree with this. The league can incentivize teams to hire minority coaches with draft compensation, but teams should not be required to interview coaches based on skin color. It only makes minority coaches who get interviewed feel like a token.

I also think they should seriously consider a minority owned group to buy the Broncos.

Having said that, if Peyton puts together a group it'd be hard to keep him out.

Giants have never had a black head coach and never had a black franchise QB. They could spew all the spin in the world and it won't change anything. No one cares that they "strongly' considered Flores. If Mara really wanted Flores, why not hire him? Mara is acting like he is the Water Boy and not the damn owner.

If Mara wanted Flores, he would be the HC.

I think it makes these guys really question why they are even getting the chance in the first place. It has to be just a horrible feeling. This rule does so much damage it's not funny.

The Giants did everything right, except tell Bellichick that they were hiring Daboll before doing their round of token minority interviews.

Well obviously Mara didn’t want Flores, was it because the color of his skin? Who knows but I’d be surprised if Mara making decisions based on race. They had Jerry Reese as a longtime GM
