Appropriate Punishment?

If you're the NFL and you find out that indeed Ross was trying to pay Flores to tank, how would you punish the Dolphins?

Move the franchise to Great Britain and stop sending the Jets to toothless/ugly teeth land.

Where should it.....end!

Loss of entire next draft.

Next 4 first round picks after.

100 million dollar fine.

Forced sale of team.

Any records wiped from NFL hall of fame during Ross' tenure.

No home games for next 5 seasons. 1 automatic loss to every team in the division next season.

Only allowed half the salary cap, plays the Jets 3 times instead of two, with 2 of those games being forfeits

They should be forced to refund all home game proceeds to ticket holders during that season.

In addition, a mega fine against both Ross and, separately, the team.

Finally, they lose a 1st and a 3rd.

And that's being kind.

Separately, the other 30 owners need to kick him out (force a sale), otherwise they are ALL complicit AFAIC.

Make them do Hard Knocks in 2022

Make them play in London in 2022 (a 'home' game)

Take 2022 1st round and 3rd round picks and 2023 1st round pick.  (They have the 29th pick this year, so not a normal "1st round" penalty, hence why I stiffened it up).

Fine team $10M (matches the fine WFT got)

Fine Ross $2M (largest before this was $1M)

Hard to say what's "appropriate" but something like that would definitely sting.

I dunno.

I do know this… 2 straight decades of the Pats dominating while significantly under the cap, paying Brady below market value, and outrunning multiple instances of cheating… plus, multiple instances now of coaches coming forward to talk about being asked to throw games… and 2 straight years of super bowl participants having a home game to max-out profit … nobody should ever push back on the comments made here about games being influenced for nefarious purposes.

NFL is a product. Controversy and is a feature, not a bug. All of this is about content consumption, data, and profit. This isn’t a contest between 2 groups of men anymore. That part is just window dressing.
