So, what happens when you throw in an amoral, genocidal Totalitarian Communist Government that artificially manipulates its currency to keep those benefits that usually would reach that lower labor class population at a minimum in order to maintain a trade imbalance with that unending supply of cheap labor to keep the money flowing so they can modernize their Military-Industrial sector while destabilizing the entire region in order to pursue post-regional dominance? (Political prisons, the MSS, and Concentration Camps for minorities are just thrown in as bonus bad guy points)

Did your Neo-Socialist econ 101 Prof talk about any of that, or was he also pretending that China is really actually super nice, and everything there is simply wonderful, totally groovy, bro,  and let's ignore 80 years of brutal history that makes our nations mistakes and issues look like a f***ing Jaywalking citation in comparison?

Just wondering.

That argument has nothing to do with socialism, but mostly with the way mega corporations engage with developing countries in order to increase their profit margins. The argument itself is commonly known as mutual exploitation.

The irony of an American talking about destabilizing regions while pursuing power is amazing though. Like, get a grip.

Had a professor make a fairly compelling argument about 'sweat shops' - we specifically read about Nike and their PR disaster with 'sweat shops' back in the day.

Long story short;

Companies hopped from country to country for cheap labor - but each time that country's standard of living improved because of the foreign direct investment. Essentially the argument was that every developed nation goes through the 'sweat shop' phase and they're better off after it.

What was considered low wages in the developed country were competitive in the developing nation. Jobs, wage growth and an increase of foreign investment paved the way for better jobs, more accelerated wage growth and even more investment.

We read case studies on Japan, South Korea and China. Even went back to the beginning of the 20th century, when we were the sweat shop nation for Europe.

It was just interesting to hear that side of it.

Anyways, just reminded me of that.

That argument is usually framed as "Mutual exploitation". No better justification for the abuse of others dignity just to get some cheap shirts as: "it's for their own good.".

I met her and asked for a photo. She was exhausted from the normal ones and said “only if we can take a cute one like we’re in love”

That kind of sounds a little flirty of her (as does the pic).  Did you try to follow up with any small comment to see if possibly she’d respond in a positive way or did you just say “thanks” and walked off?

I found the nearest coat closet, lit a candle and searched google images for about an hour. I’m married and it certainly caught me off guard. She was very well put together. I was surprised at how handsy she was with a stranger. She must have a thing for military men.  I’m sure if my wife wasn’t 8 months pregnant, I’d have gone for in for seconds.

context:

I was at an event called taste of the JETS and we competed in a contest against all other first responders in NY. Police fire military. And we won. So we had some one on one time with the 2019 draft class and FA signings. And ultimately Kay. Since she was the host.

Never been heard it is real nice though :) Greece and Norway is what comes to mind for me.  Also Sweden is really good

In five years or so, I'll be retiring, and probably off overseas to wag my finger and scream at teenagers to stay off my lawn. Between the cost of health care and housing here, I don't have many options here, sadly - and I have some friends in France and relatives in Greece. I lived in the latter for five years in the early 2000's, and my brother lives in France and loves it.

Watching the 1PM games at 7 or 8 PM sounds fine to me. The 4 PM games will be challenging for Old Goat me; I'll doubtless have to tape the evening games perchance the Jets are actually on prime time by then.

He’s not wrong. Leave it to these ******* cretins to ruin a thread about a positive thing and turn it into a boner fest/political-platehead rant.

“She even looks good without makeup!”

”I’ve seen hotter.”

”B-b-but Chiiiiiina!!”

i can’t wait till I shuffle off this mortal coil so I don’t have to be around any more goddamn humans.

Boner fest sounds an awful lot like something a 22 year old troll would say.

No disrespect.  But I believe I could have come up with a few more "cute" photo scenarios to convey Kay and I were "in love".  A few where you could even see my face.

Greece was one of my favorite places to go to in the military beautiful country. I have never been to France but i heard the same just beautiful and the cites to see are incredible. Very sorry for the healthcare and financial issues that are a burden for you pal it is very hard to live in this country and make ends meat nowadays.

Haha.  You did the right thing.  But I think you legitimately might've had a chance (at least potentially for a date) with Kay.
