DIY Draft

Problem with this exercise, at this time, is it's done under the presumption the Jets will lose all their pending FAs and sign nobody. That's how need is necessarily being assessed.

But I get that it's entertaining in the meantime. :)

And trades.  This whole board flips if JD makes a move for Jeudy, Cooper, Ridley, etc.

Does Wilson's presence mean we can just take our preffered WR at 10?

I think I'd go:

4) Thibodeux

10) London (Wilson if that's not the case)

35) Johnson

38) McBride

69) Joseph

Yea you can def swap out Wilson for Burks or London. Same with Dean for Lloyd

London (not listed)

Karlaftis (not listed) or Gardner

Brisker

*McBride

*Ruckert

*Yes, lets address the TE once for all. If anyone is capable of teaching these guys is coach Middleton.

Great, great point.

There are several ways this can go that would be good for the Jets.

If we can assume we can sign or acquire a very good WR and S, and that the T situation stabilizes (hopefully with signing Moses again), this team could can be much, much better.

I do like Muma in rd 3.  Key really.

Thib, Dean, Elam, McBride and Watson.

Heavy D early but we really need those positions and that should really set up the D going forward.

Got my TE and a future WR - as long as we went WR big in FA - I love this draft.

4 - Thibs (although I really don't want him, we need EDGE more than Safety and because Johnson was available).
10 - Wilson (only because Burks is not an option in those picks)
35 - Johnson (because I didn't go for Ekwonu at 4)
38 - Pitre (because I want Ruckert, otherwise I would have picked Joseph at 69)
69 - Ruckert (I want more size out of my TE then 6'3" McBride)

Not a perfect system since you see who is there later but thought this would be a fun exercise, how do you approach the draft if it falls like this?

Thibodeaux, Gardner, Johnson, McBride, Watson

Ekwonu, Wilson, Ebiktie, Ruckert. Great draft.

Neat formula.  I’d go:

Thibs

Gardner

Brisker

McBride

Watson

I'll play along.

Sticking strictly with the chart-players:

4. Thibodeaux (OL IS very tempting, but I'll throw this top-ranked EDGE bone to the "must also help the D" fans, lol).

10. Wilson (WR)

35. Johnson (OL)

38. McBride (TE)

69. Ruckert (TE)

1. DE Thibs

10. WR Wilson

35. S Brisker

38. TE McBride

69. LB Muma

I can live with this for real. the only thing i would change is i would get a OL at 69. the 3rd rd is a good spot for OL. get a guy who can sit and backup up and maybe he takes over in a few years.

This is a great premise. Me:

Ekwonu

Wilson

Johnson

Mcbride

Watson

then D the rest of the way

That would be a great draft class. Fun to root for too. I hate the thought of taking a CB at ten. And I hate the thought of Gardner playing anyone else but here.  Have to check his pop warner tape to see if he has ever given up a touchdown. He might be special.
