And what’s the alternative, hand out big deals right off the bat to FAs? im more worried about the nice bumps for AVT and Becton. you could pay 50-60 mil for 3 OL. your not going to want some Jags at the other 2 starting position or at backup in case of injury .thats a really expensive OL. JD signed Fant and Mcg for 10 mil each. Moses for 3 mil plus incentives. and traded for LDT who didnt make much. you can find some good FAs without breaking the bank. plus i would draft a OL in rd 3. And what’s the alternative, hand out big deals right off the bat to FAs? You spread it to other areas. They will all get a boost on their second deal so you need to spread that around the team. You can only have so many highly paid players on the team. Having all your eggs in the OL basket makes no sense. Having it on other parts of the team gives you an opportunity for picking a guy late in the draft that plays beyond his draft position and can take the spot of a first round pick . By spreading it around, you don't have to just hope it's an OL that hits late. If one does, great, but if it's. LB or WR and all you have in those positions are B and C type players, it's just a lateral move. Ues, there is likely to be a drop off when you trade rhat first round guy but the impact will be softer than having to trade one and replace him with a jag.

We need some first round players in other parts of the team. You'll have to pay all the first rounders who perform well regardless of position. Drafting a CB instead doesn't lessen that load. Drafting a CB instead doesn't lessen that load. It lessens the impact because you don't just draft OL. If we draft a CB in round 5 that outplays his draft position, that enables you to bring him up and make him into a starter possibly replacing a first round pick at CB which would allow you to trade said first rounder for more picks. But if all you are doing is spending first round picks on the OL, that CB who is out playing his draft slot doesn’t help in that regard. That is why you spread picks around.
