The Dolphins (along with the Jets) were among the teams who made an offer for Ridley. With him out of the picture, Amari fits into their plans like a glove. Jets are going to have to get creative if they're going to improve the skill positions pre-draft I've been saying this for a while now, I'd absolutely give up a 5th for Cooper even if it's just a 1 year rental. We have too much money and not enough good FAs to spread it all around. You make the trade and if he reworks his deal, great, if not then you basically have Cooper on cost controlled franchise tags for 3 years.

It never matters until it does. Wouldn't it be funny if the Jets sign Cooper to a multi year deal at a "IDGAF Contract" and then next year the Packers decide to trade Davante Adams but we can't go after him because we locked up 20 million in a "good" WR? 1

No. I didn't. What did signing those guys stop the Jets from doing? They went on to sign Mosley, and Corey Davis and Lawson.

So they can essentially free up another $60m next year if they want. Give Cooper a max contract.
Jethead
Cooper is a prix fixe meal if we trade for him and he plays under his current deal. And given The new bar just set by Aaron Rogers, the price of poker is going up. Even if flawed he's an upgrade for us and easy to move on from . Would still draft a WR with one of our early picks. Amari is from the best player, he’s vastly over-paid right now and you would be foolish to give him $20M per year, absolutely foolish.

The jets would be better off drafting younger cheaper wrs than overpaying him. 1
