DK Metcalf

Would you give Seattle back their #10 pick for him, and do you think that would be enough if he is even available (think they have what they think is a good plan at QB not sure what).

Metcalf seems like a pipe dream but what do you think it would cost if available.

Man Moore and Metcalf would bring a compete level the Jets haven’t seen in over a decade.

Honestly, I would. What receiver are we going to get thats going to equate to DK or his potential? I just do not see Seattle trading a 24 year old stud for their 1st round pick.

Talk about an off-season revolving around Wilson. This would be the move to make.

I really think Tyler Lockett is realistic, but there will be a lot of competition for him.

Teams who will be interested: NYJ, NE, BUF, MIA, GB, CLE, KC, LV, NO... list probably goes on

Locket just signed an extension. Unless we're talking about a post June trade.

I mean fans had their hopes up for Njoko, Schultz, and Ridley who are all goners now. Everyone else is in play realistically. I personally feel they should make an all out push for Cooper. We will see what happens next week

Not a big fan of signing Cooper. If we could swing Metcalf and we were comfortable he would not implode that might be a move to look at. As it is after today it looks more and more like defense in FA and offense in the draft. All our FA options are drying up quickly.

wouldn’t it be more beneficial to have Cooper and our 10th pick instead of Metcalf?

Not necessarily. Would depend on the deal for Cooper. If he is released and you can get him at a cap reasonable price maybe. But not at $20 million straight off the cap. He is not a slam dunk contributor by any means, so if you were to trade for him say and I assume use #10 for defense in this scenario and we get a declining older receiver, have something like $12 million in opportunity cost and pass on potentially the top receiver that is a big negative move that hurts the Jets for more than just next season. We just got out from under some horrible FA contracts. And we just go and do it again?

If today showed anything, the FA targets we actually fancied to target all got tagged. Dallas would not release Cooper if they thought he was still a #1.

Well Mike Williams just got 3 for $60 so Cooper is definitely getting at least that much. And honestly we should’nt even be worrying about cap space we have plenty of it. Not to mention next year we can free up close to $60m in cap space if need be (Mosley, Lawson, Davis). Not to mention DK needs an extension soon as well. So again I’d rather pay Cooper and keep our 10th pick instead of trading 10 for DK

There are different pools of thought. Certainly there are teams that view it as you do that there is plenty of cap and we can just sign whomever and then restructure, we went though that with Tannenbaum. I think the Jets are not in a space where they can do that. If we had a stronger base and we could go all in that might be different but I think we still need to be measured prudent and make long term moves.

At this point the thought is they would consider taking the dead cap hit in a trade if it meant landing premium compensation, but yes, they can also decide to wait until 6/1 to trade him as the Falcons did with Julio Jones. In either scenario, I think he'll have a pretty robust market

I'd be surprised if they traded for their pick back. I'd do the trade straight up for 10 but they would likely want more than that. The optics of it are bad, just like when Miami almost traded the Texans #3 pick back to them for Watson last year.

I would prefer Cooper and on 3 one year deals because we won't be able to sign him in FA without drastically overpaying. You then don't have to reach for a WR, could take one in the 2nd or 3rd round and let them learn. Basically I think we have more cap space than we can actually spend on good FAs

Yes

The dude is a physical freak averaging 10 TD’s a year and he just turned 24.

I’m not even sure where this “bad rep” is coming from…

Does it simply stem from him sh*t talking that mushmouth goof Shannon Sharpe on Twitter? Because that just makes me like him even more.

The Bills said the same thing when they traded for Diggs.. it's worked out for them but the guy the vikings got for that pick was Justin Jefferson who is both better and cheaper.

But we cant just assume the same will be true just because it happened once. It happened to work out for both teams. It's been stated in so many threads before when this trade scenario is brought up...this is not that kind of WR class and there are zero guarantees we are getting a stud WR even if hes the first off the board at 10. Pay your money and take your chances with Cooper. Stop complaining about the salary. We have space and we need to inject this offense with bonifide talent to properly evaluate Wilson.

If Cooper looks past his prime, we can move on from him and/or Davis next year. No harm no foul. If he is good and Wilson sucks we have the peices to lure a vet QB hopefully for win now mode.

If we can trade Carolina's 4th rounder for Cooper, then we get a proven #1 WR for the reasonable price of $20M a year.

Plus, we can say we traded Sam Darnold for Amari Cooper, Brandin Echols and whoever we pick with the Panther's 2nd rounder this year.

Win-win.

Didn’t Metcalf go Full Diva last year to the point where Russell Wilson stopped throwing him the ball, but you guys want  to give up the #10 to get in the huddle with our tender young 52% passer?

I’d give up one of our 2nds this year and our 2nd next year for DK. Idk about the -#10 overall pick though.

2 second round picks prob isn’t enough but I wouldn’t give up a 1st.

you want to get better, then trade for him.  Many of these good wrs are divas anyway.

I just cant see this. He is really good, one of the best.  He has one year on his contract and then will ask for a gazillion dollars. Every draft pick is risky however their are plenty of Wrs ibn this draft that we dont even have to take at #10 that seem destined to be quality NFL players. Wilson, Burk, and London all seem worthy of the #10 pick and Dotson, Pickens, Metchie, Watson, Peirce are all players that will most likely go in round 2 and beyond. They all will not crush our cap like DK will after a year. Heck, we may already have our #1 in Moore. And if you havent given up on our 24 year old, 6'3 Wr with blazing speed, we might (slight as it might seem today) have our future #2.  I find there is little reason to trade for DK or any Wr when the draft seems so loaded

The bad rep is because he likes ranch with his calamari (which is admittedly disgusting).

I'd offer the 10th pick to Seattle for Metcalf and pick 41 in the second round. None of the WRs in this draft have Metcalf's upside and Douglas has a spotty drafting record anyway. Picking up Seattle's second rounder also allows the Jets to have another pick in the second for a draft that looks somewhat deep but light on top end talent.
