jetstream23
The funny thing is thinking that FA starts for the Jets today or Wednesday. We know JD doesn't even start making calls until the Top 10 guys are all signed and the money starts drying up around the league. THAT is when he swoops in like a shining knight and starts negotiating 3 yr/ $13.25M contracts with linebackers. 1

Idzk had the same problem https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2021/09/08/new-york-jets-joe-douglas-least-trusted-general-managers-nfl-agents/ Ben Standig asked 33 certified agents a series of questions about the league heading into the 2021 season. One of the questions was “Among GMs or front-office leaders, who do you trust the least?” Douglas finished third with three votes. He trailed the Eagles’ Howie Roseman (7 votes) and the Patriots’ Bill Belichick (6 votes). The organization is so bad, it’s hard to trust anything that comes out of there,” one agent said. “Part of that is just his circumstances with ownership, but they’ve told multiple players things in the last couple of years that just haven’t been true,” another agent added. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/the-inside-story-of-jets-gm-joe-douglas-hc-robert-saleh-and-their-2021-season/ So what’s the problem? According to many I’ve spoken with who deal directly with Douglas, “He spends money in free agency as though it was the last dollar coming from his wallet.” Multiple people tell me Douglas doesn’t approach free agency with a mindset of

Which is in line with Joes philosophy anyway, even if there was a few really good candidate, we are not going to blow the wad on just one guy. Just like last year and and every other year in the NFL this is the right move. Wait. Wait a little more and then pick up some good contracts on the second or third tier guys if they can help the team. Corey davis signing I loved last year. Wish it would have worked out better, but the signing was great. The approach was great. We would all be pist if we starting paying that Amari cooper money this year just for him to not be that stud WR1. Hopefully whoever we pick up will live up to the contract. Im not realy sure who we really want to get tho.

He's that thorough. He'll start the due dili the 2022 NFL free agents tomorrow. Give it a few weeks, we'll score this years Greg Van Roten and Keelan Cole. Remember, five wins next year is an improvement. And we're only three years into the rebuild, so don't be too quick to judge. Hmm. Do we want to update maybe?

jetspenguin
You'd think by now everyone on this site would know not to take these pre-free agency tweets about the Jets interest in players so seriously. Agents have been pushing this b.s. to reporters to create leverage in negotiations since John Idzik was here. And every year you guys buy into it, then get pissed when it turns out that none of it was true. You people are so f*cking gullible.LolSent from the NY Jets /Zack Wilson Suicide Watch desk. Joe W. Namath
Here is a tip for Jet fans moving forward. Stop doubting Woody Johnson, Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, Mike Lafluer, Jeff Ulbrich, Zach Wilson etc. You will look foolish and be wrong. We are about to start a run of being one of the best teams in the league every year for the next 10-15 years. Accept it, enjoy it and stop fighting it. 1

I was being a bit facetious. I didn’t assume that he really would not pick up the phone and make a single phone call once the NFL allowed General managers to start contacting free agents. But your point is well taken. JD has absolutely come out of the gates hot this year. And… the Jets needed it.
