He's immediately our best TE since keller with his 49/493/5 td last year. As sad as that is ? Now go get McBride in the draft and make this TE room studly with yeboah developing as well.

Maybe better in our system? He had a badly sprained knee in the playoffs and fought to get healthy enough to play in the SB. CJ is a good football player. He can block, catch the football, and help in the red zone. That exactly is what the Jets need… 1
Tooooon
Far from earth shattering but if you assume they also draft a TE this could be a solid 1-2 punch. Without question will be a huge upgrade over what was on roster past few years.

GreenReaper
Nice signing. Uzomah could be the first TE since Dustin Keller to catch 60+ balls for the Jets. IMO...65 Rec for 675 Yds and 6 TDs would be nice...and doable for CJ.

And once the cowboys decided to tag Schultz the next best option was a guy like Uzomah who is still a huge upgrade over every tight end we've had the last decade . And I still think they draft a guy on the hopes of finding that rare difference maker. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2022-nfl-free-agency-rankings-tight-ends He was PFF's 9th rated availalble FA TE. I agree he's an upgrade, but I think huge is a stretch. He had decent numbers last year, but that was with Burrow throwing to him and he was probably the 5th option on offense behind Chase, Higgins, Boyd and Mixon. JiF
Meh, not much different than Kroft or Griffin if we are being honest with ourselves but I like it for flexibility and depth reasons. Still need to draft a TE.

WestCoastMole
This acquisition frees up the Jets from blowing extra draft picks to move up into the bottom of the First Round of the Draft to take MacBride. The Jets can sit tight at 35 and if MacBride is gone move on to a different target and draft Ruckert in Round 3 2
GreenReaper
41 minutes ago, FidelioJet said: Yup...which is why this move makes total sense. Fans seem to love McBride but there are a number of quality TE's in this draft - many "experts" have a couple of them ranked higher than McBride. They'll probably all be there at 38. More I've thought about this...more I'd prefer a Mike Gesicki type TE...like Lively. Now after the Uzomah signing. I think Uzomah-Lively compliment each other well.

DoubleDecker
Here's why I'm cool with this, the Jets are always planning on adding one in the draft anyways. Sure they could double dip, but you want to have all options in the table come draft day. Uzomah helps alleviate the panic a bit about double dipping at TE. Granted, you could argue they still should double dip.

johnnyjet
I definitely think we draft a TE. I think JD has done well so far not over spending. And signing OURguys. I’ll grade the whole thing out when it’s done. I will say the Jaguars are screwed and in full panic mode

Irish Jet
Meh. Mediocre starter which is sadly a huge improvement on the bottom dwelling trash we’ve been working with the last few years. A bit of an overpay but he’s seemingly a great character as well as an upgrade. Would still draft another. 1
