Jets Sign K Greg “The Leg” Zuerlein

Diddnt ammendola kick well under 40 yards and XPs?  And he had lots of leg but accuracy issues beyond 40?   Isn’t that better potential than this?

You were definitely one of those guys that hated it when we signed Jason myers the year after he was terrible with the Jags.... and then one of those guys that cried when  we let him go. 

Zeurlein has a big leg. No harm bringing him in to see if he cab recapture his pro bowl form

Supposedly last year he wasn’t healthy — recently had back surgery.

If he’s healthy he’s the best kicker we’ve had since Myers pretty easily.

Not sure but most likely yes because we didn’t pay Folk who is still effective.

I’m not even going to address the ridiculous “dad wallet” comment considering that the deal is “UP TO 2.75 million” meaning it’s not a fully guaranteed deal and a 5 second search of the web would have told you that but, hey, why let facts get in the way of getting a chance to post a silly narrative?

So what?  Kicker isn’t a position where age is a large issue.  Vinitieri immediately comes to mind.  Zuerlein is barely older than Justin Tucker.

You know how the Rams found Gay?  They picked him up off the scrap heap after the Bucs and Colts got rid of him.  Boyer has rehabilitated kickers (Jason Meyers) before.  It can’t possibly hurt, on any level, to bring in someone with his physical talent, to see if you can get him back to elite form.

Zuerlein had a bad 2019 but regained his form the last two years.
His accuracy has been 83% in 2020-2021:

His worst trait was he was 42 of 48 on XPs but I would take that if
the Jets can score 48 TDs this year

I don't understand how some of you forget kickers season highly fluctuate. Every team picks up the guys off the trash cheap only for them to ball out  or let a guy who balled out this year go. Folk Meyers and a couple others were mentioned.

I for one like the signing and wish jacked up Amendola could kick past the 40, but him or master p could have an excellent season. Greg is my lock for winning the job.

How about answering the question?  How is signing a kicker for training camp competition a bad thing?  What is your plan for kicker?  What exactly is wrong with Amendola, Piniero, and Zeurlein in training camp?

He's been good in the past. Unless your Justin Tucker kickers are up and down. Even Nick Folk was out of the league for a while and kicking in that stupid alliance league whatever it was called. now he's with the pats and has barely missed a kick. The guy is worth having in camp for competition with Pinero. The best man wins

It must be nice to have a premium kicker. It's one of those positions that doesn't seem premium until you know that getting into field goal range when the game is on the line is almost a guaranteed 3 points.

Wasn't Ammendola the one who tackled the Kick Returner in the next to the last game at the end of 2020 that won the game for the Jets and denied the team the first pick in the 2021 Draft ? The pick that would have guaranteed Trevor Lawrence the consensus no 1 player in the draft.
