Jets Sign Former 3rd Overall Pick Solomon Thomas

I dig it. Played all 17 last year with 3.5 sacks and 2 FF. He's very familiar with Saleh and should provide some good depth to our team.

Thomas played almost exclusively on the edge for San Fran(nearly 80% of his snaps) and was a huge disappointment.

Last year with the Raiders he spent about 50% of his snaps at DT and his production was improved along with his pass rush win rate.  Still hardly setting the world on fire, though.

I would imagine he will be playing inside almost exclusively here.  This is a calculated swing worth taking.

Just a depth signing of a guy who knows the system, and a reminder that just because someone is drafted top 5, they can still be mediocre or worse.

He is a guy i looked at when FA began, after we showed no early interest i thought we would not pursue him knowing that he played for saleh.  A needed signing in any case. As absurd as it is we need some dline.

His 2021 numbers are more than solid for a role player --- 2 PD; 2 FF; 3.5 Sacks; 3 TFL and 12 QB hits. That is a productive season for a non starter.

this helps camp competition and takes a little pressure off of the later draft picks.

 There is a couple article online about how this kid deserved more playing time. Seems to me that he is great cheap pick up, that shoudl not be asked too much of and if he gives us last years stats, would be happy with it. Maybe we get lucky and he gets back to the basically all edge and after a season or two has grown as a player and gets home a few more times. I m sure saleh say his tape and thnks the kid can contritbute!!

He’s a backup, that’s all that matters.

If he’s a bust, we expected that, if Saleh trusts him, and makes him not a busy, then we’ve had a good deal.

he won’t eat into the Cap either.

As bad as the secondary was last year, put these DL back there. Could they possibly do any worse than what these guys did last year.

looks like a one gap 43 DT to me.  he might just be a good fit in Saleh's defence.  smart addition.  a fair chance of production at a fair price.  some depth if nothing else.

I like Solomon Thomas when he played for the Raiders last year .  Guy never quit , and made some big plays for the Raiders.  Just changed  the defensive scheme that he wasn’t a good fit in the new defense. ( looking for different type of Dt ) .  S Thomas will make the Jets 53,  come off the bench, and provide some pass rush .
