Man, if Gleyber can start hitting, that'd be great.

Then all you have to do is trade Gallo to Montreal, let literally anyone else play left field, and we are in business.

Gallo is so bad. He is a rally killer.

Why does he even play?

1 double, 3 HR and 4 RBI this year.   Batting average under 200, on base under 300,   He strikes out over 40% of the time, 31ks in 71 ABs.  Sure, the season is young, but last year he had 88ks in 188 ABs, or 47% of the time.   I'm sorry, that is not a major league caliber player.

Gallo is terrible and needs to work with a hitting coach and revamp his entire outlook on hitting because its just plain terrible and gets worse every year.

It's the beginning of May lol

I'll start off by saying salaries in all of sports are out of control and maybe that's what you should attack rather than a player just looking for market value. There are numerous players making what the Yankees offered Judge who can't even come close to his talent both in the field and at the plate. The fact that the Yankees low balled him (at the current salaries in MLB) is more a smack in the face to a player who is obviously all-In as a Yankee and stated he wants to be a Yankee for life. The Rangers gave Cory Seager 325 Mil for 10 years and I think the Yankees Offered Judge 300 for 10 . Seager is a 15-25 homer a year guy a 60 RBI guy at best and he never plays a full season but he's worth 32.5 mil per year offered by another team ? The Dodgers were smart to move on since the guy got this contract based on a WS MVP award he's Santonio Holmes/ Larry Brown part 3. I would love to know what Judges counter was and if he just wanted what other players of his caliber were getting

This is tough to argue with. Id like him to stay around but 10 years is tough too.

Home run #21 for Judge. He’s on pace for 65. What a monumental mistake Cashman made by low balling him. They could legitimately lose him this off-season if a team like the Mets offer him something ridiculous like $350m

I love Judge, and hope he resigns.

That being said, signing a 30 year old to a 10 year, 375 million dollar contract is not the best idea.   The contract will very likely be like Pujols after 3-4 years.  Cashman should have taken care of this years ago, and now will likely lose the best player the Yanks have had in years.

Exactly, letting Judge even reach free agency is a hanging offense IMO. And then he tried to low ball him in spring training was just embarrassing. And now the cherry on top is Judge going out and possible winning the MVP

The numbers are stupid until you look at the valuation of the Yankees.

The hated George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees and the stadium for a song.  He paid good players stupid money and they made the Yankees a branding machine worth billions.

The NY Jets and ultimately the NFL profited from the stupid money Namath was paid.   Prior to the star system teams were plantations with low paid help and low value teams.

This isn’t about Judges value this is ultimately about the Yankees value and interest in MLB.   High value teams need high paid superstars.

I'd give him 35 or 40 a year, for 5 years, not 10.

I think it's worth a lot to Judge to be the face of the Yankee's unless the Dodgers are going to throw stupid money a him.  These lifetime deals are insane.

Agree with you these 10 year deals for a 30 plus year old player is crazy.  Pay him a ton over a shorter period.  He's the face of the franchise now not in 5 or 6 years.

Judge really is the best type of lead off hitter his OBP is ridiculous. Having guys like Stanton and Lemaieu behind him is perfect

I disagree. I want him hitting three run home runs, not solo home runs because the 8-9-1 hitting OBP ain’t it.

His obp is great, but with his power i want someone to have a chance to be on base.

It’s new age analytic baseball. They don’t put the “speedy guy” leading off anymore. They’d rather a guy with a high OBP. Plus he’s getting more ABs a game then he would batting 3rd or 4th

How much money does this guy need? He's an idiot for turning down this offer, but the Yankees are idiots for offering that much money.....That's one reason why baseball has gone downhill....It's hard to root for greed.  But I digress, I will always be a Yankees fan.  Having favorite players left me decades ago and I feel sorry for the kids today who worship these players as I did during the 50's and 60's.  It's different times for sure, but kids don't realize that.

If I'm the Yanks, trade him now and get yourself some starting pitching before this injury prone player gives you nothing.

Sorry, but this hasn't aged well.   :)

I read something awhile back that talked about how it is only true for the first at bat. Once you are through the order once, there are RBI opportunities. Leadoff seems extreme. I was buying into the two spot. Ideally I still would love a fast base stealer with a good OBP up first.

Yes, but the Yankees 7, 8, 9 hitters today were hitting 224, 172, and 188.   You'd hope someone hitting leadoff over judge was hitting over 250, which means more men on base.

LOL...no it hasn't!  Good for him and not the Yankees piggy bank.

Exactly, the Yankees are on fire and it is going to cost them what Judge is doing. Kid bet on himself and he is going to double their offer lol.

I hope he wins the MVP.

To me, it's not the money, I just don't give a 30 year old a 10 year contract.  Give him 5 years, 220, make him the highest paid player in MLB for the next 5 years.
