Popular Post Bungaman
Good for him. If he can put together the physical and the mental part of the game, perhaps we'll get what we were hoping for to begin with. If he can show up along with a drafted rookie, we'll have a solid receiving corp - and at a good price/reasonable allotment of cap money for that position. 10

Popular Post Jimmy 2 Times
I'd argue the metal side of things held him back last year more than motivation or drive/commitment. Hopefully he hit the books too.
Popular Post DepressedJetsFan23
I think it’s all mental with mims, the guy was actually solid when he was on the field his rookie year, i don’t think he just forgot how to play football but who knows with the team

ryu79
Good for him. Nothing would be better than this guy pushing for reps with improved play. Talent has always been there... It's just about the focus.

IntoTheGreen
It's a typical offseason fluff piece, but I'd rather see hes working than not. Jets are most likely preparing like hes not part of their future (aka drafting a WR early), but if somehow he emerges as the X we all want none of us will complain.
Popular Post David Harris
It’s the brains. It’s an overused term but this guy was an absolute liability every time he was on the field last year. Dumb ass penalties, literally 2 negative plays out of every 3 he was on the field some games. Unfortunately I think its 90/10 bust and wouldn’t be surprised if he’s traded for a 6th round pick. We’re going to draft a WR and Mims doesn’t play special teams. So he’ll be #5 behind rookie, Davis, Moore, Berrios. Those guys are barely hanging on, need to play ST or have a niche.
65 Toss Power Trap
I agree with the posters who are thinking it might be the mental side of things that is the biggest issue. I hope Mims becomes a Jerry Rice but I fear that he is the Vince Young of wide receivers.

Indeed I truly felt that Mims was the steal of the draft, and said so...and hence I could not IMAGINE him playing as he has. And so while I would love for Mims to turn it around and I am forever rooting for him, I cannot pretend that Mims has not been a disappointment for me so far. Here is to HOPING & I am PRAYING for the turnaround of his career because I truly believed that Mims could be special.... Let's Go Jets!

My 2 cents worth of opinion on Mims is that he is not a good route runner and is awful at getting separation. However I think he does have the potential to become an NFL WR if he can get his head out of his a$$. This pre-season is his last chance with this team. If we have Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Denzel Mims, and (perhaps) Garret Wilson on this team as our first four receivers, then there will FINALLY be a day when a player like Berrios will NOT have to be on this team. When you see him interview, he doesn’t seem to have his head up his ass. He sounds motivated and driven. I think his ability may be limited either physically, or more likely mentally, in terms of just learning, understanding and applying. We’ll see… year 3 is typically the jump year for WRs, except the special ones. 1
