Drops, running the wrong routes, not getting open and penalties probably helped the idea he sucks too.

BJF1983 dreams of the day when Braxton Berrios starts running bad routes, fails to get open, and commits penalties.

Connor Hughes keeps advancing the negative narratives on Mims.  He did the same thing with Robbie Anderson.  No one likes excuses but Mims missed a ton of critical practice time in a new scheme, was physically not himself, and was literally making mistakes in games that he would ideally cleaned up in practice.

All evidence points to the fact that he’s a beast of a worker so the lazy narrative is just stupid.  He clearly was physically drained.  And mentally he was able to learn the Adam Gase offense and produce as a rookie so jokes about his mental capabilities are for the small minded.

We given lots of runway for sub par QBs over the years.  I’m willing to give Denzel some runway.  He has the athletic profile and college production that exceeds prospects we are drooling over in this draft.

Weeks 14-18, we were hurting for a WR to step up in the absence of Davis and Moore.  By that time, Mims had 14 weeks of regular season, 3 weeks of preseason, and a bye week to put himself in position to help the team.

Stat-line for that 5 game stretch:
4 games played, 0 rec., 8 targets.

What do we think the difference will be between a rookie Drake London and a year 3 Denzel Mims?   Mims is clearly someone the Jets should take the option on.  He is under contract and cheap for 2 years.

Connor Hughes is reporting what he sees and heard from people inside the building. He’s not “advancing an narrative”.

If you don’t like it, tough. One offseason working with a trainer to get bigger doesn’t suddenly morph you into randy moss. Chad Pennington was working to make his arm stronger every off season. Geno Smith was working on becoming a leader. Everyone one of these athletes works to maintain their body and mind but the proof will be in the pudding. Mims has to go out there and make it impossible for the coaches to take him off the field.
