Odds of Icky at 4 just increased dramatically

I respect the argument.
But what might happen in practice is that the Jets have a very similar grade on a lot of the WRs in this draft. Hence, the Jets might be nearly as excited to get a guy like Pickens in round 2 (just an example, insert someone you like here) as they would Williams/London/Wilson in round 1.
I think there was a very telling moment at the press conference last week - Rex Hogan spoke of there being "parity" at the WR position in this draft  - I think that might have tipped their hand a bit, but we'll see.
You make a good point but it sounded to me like the parity he referenced was related to the top names being floated around. Likely no more than 3 or 4 players tops. Different skill sets but graded similarly.

Translated- We might take a tackle so if any of you other guys want to take him so that KT can fall to us here is a heads up.

Definitely possible, but he has has said similar things before.

That comment struck me along with the comment about there being a lot of "parity" at the WR position in this draft.

This is NOT a lot of missed time lmfao. If you told me I had a legit LT for a decade but he typically missed 2 games a season, sign me the F up. NFL players get hurt A LOT.

No, but adding it with Becton's history means that the Jets will likely need a 3rd starter for several games. That was my point, not that Fant is injury prone.

As much as I understand the logic for taking Ickey at 4, I just can't wrap my mind around picking a player that high that you "MIGHT" need.

Both Ickey and Evan Neal  are better than any tackles we have, and 10 year sure starters at one of the most important position.

I think the word “might“ fits in the idea that the tackle position “might” be figured out for this season, but there are question marks all over the place for such an important position. This is a player we absolutely need. Becton is an unknown and Fant doesn’t have the years or upside of these two young studs in the draft. We have a chance to get a lockdown tackle.

It’s not a hard decision from the perspective of the biggest need of this team is to shore up all the help you can possibly get for this young quarterback.  But it is a hard and frustrating decision when you think of all the capital we’ve thrown into the tackle position in the past, and when you see that there are other players who can help us greatly.

Who knows what happens, but I keep reading that Thibodeaux is now a lock to go top three.

I think you may need to trade becton while he may still have real trade value.  If he’s hurt again this year you’re getting nothing.  Now you may.

And you could trade him after missing a year at a reduced price and he goes 4 years without an injury and watch his replacement get injured.

Here’s what one inside the Jets organization expects to see occur next Thursday:

1(4) OL Ickey Ekwonu
1(10) DE Kayvon Thibodeaux/Jermaine Johnson

WR would be addressed via trade (whether it be Deebo Samuel or trade up into top 25)

This makes complete sense - but then one wonders what the Jets would do if both Thibs and JJ are gone by 10 (entirely possible)?

Karlaftis or would they then consider WR at 10 (assuming no Deebo trade)?

Damn. Thanks for sharing.

As an aside, do you know if they’re pissed about Becton not being there?

So the 10th pick won’t be on the table for Deebo?

Havent paid attention to the offensive line draft stuff at all really...but what makes Ikem good? He doesnt seem like 4th overall good. The Alabama LT seems better.

Neal is allegedly dropping because he won’t do any testing. IMG Academy dude.

Its not likely either of those guys are there at 10.

This is BPA talk, right? As long as he's factoring in some level of positional value, sure, why not...
