Patrick Mahomes already has more career Pass TD* (179) than Roger Staubach (177), Joe Namath (176) and Bart Starr (165). Patrick Mahomes has been an NFL starter for 4 seasons. *incl. postseason

And look at the Jets, getting all sexy with Davis and Thomas.  We own the top 10 of the draft.  OWN THEM!

Look at every pick besides Garrett.

Mac got the 3rd or 4th best player with the sixth pick….

pretty good

I imagine you're joking here.  But to those who might take this point seriously and perhaps even agree with it:  A very good or even elite Box Safety is not a worthwhile selection in the top 10.  If you're going to pick in the top 10, you has better be taking a QB, WR, LT, or EDGE guy.  If you don't like any of the guys at those spots, trade down.  And even when you take those guys and they fail, its a more worthwhile selection than the best Box Safety out there.

Of course most Safeties you take in that range will end up really good, because it's a nice, safe position.  Know who has had an even better career than Adams to this stage?  Eddie Jackson, a 4th round SS from the same draft.  THAT is the proper location to be taking a Box Safety.

Jamal Adams was a better player than several of the guys on that list, yes.  But the QB's (of course), Mike Williams and even John Ross would have been better PICKS, because those are the swings you take at 6 overall.  Or you trade down.

The reason why Maccagnan's drafts were so bad is because the process was terrible.  Did he take a few good players here and there?  Sure.  Did it matter?  No, because none of the players played positions that move the needle in the NFL.

Sam is a good quarterback that just needs weapons.

Mahomes would have become Geno Smith on a Jets team built by Maccagnan...

I don't know if I buy into this "bad teams ruin good QBs" narrative, but Mahomes certainly wouldn't have had the same success here with Big Macc building the team.

Mahomes would still have been a top 10 QB here.  But Mike Maccagnan wouldn't have had the balls to take Pat Mahomes in a million years, and that's the # 1 reason he failed here:  No stones whatsoever.

Funny, because that’s what most people complain the most about Douglas.

Why did he take the tackle with the most upside instead of the reliable RT?

Why take wonder boy when Fields was there?

This board will find a reason to bitch.

Thank you!

Mahomes is GREAT and someone I BEGGED the Jets to Draft!

But.......

I will not compare him yet to Roger Staubach or many on that list yet.

Simple...people who do unhelpful things like comparing players from different eras clearly NEVER truly saw some of those players ever play!!

Lets face it Mahomes would have been killed in some prior eras.......

But we were solid at QB... we didn't need Watson or Mahommes.

We had journeyman McCown.

Mahomes would be just fine if he played in the 60’s-90’s.

He wouldn’t put up video game stats, his career would be shorter, and he’d be nursing a lot of injuries, but he would be a top quarterback.
Probably all pro.

We all saw what happened when he faced a real pass rush, dude stepped up and still won.
