Pretty sure they brought in Cine for a visit so they must have some interest...

Just did some digging. These were the only safeties that visited the Jets.   I believe Carpenter is being converted to LB.

Percy Butler, Safety, La.-Lafayette (PRI)

Tariq Carpenter, Safety, Georgia Tech (WOR)

Lewis Cine, Safety, Georgia (PRI)

PRI - Private visit. Prospect making an official 30 visit.
WOR - Private Workout. Members of an organization working out a player in private.

Yea lets waste a top 40 pick on 1 of the least important positions in football.

I don't think it is waste once you are getting to 35-40.  If you are getting a  good safety there it is worth it imo.  1st round and especially early?  No freaking way.

Wanna draft another Marcus Maye? I wouldnt.

We need guys who score TDs, protect Zach or sack the QB. JMO.

You need 3 starting corners and 3 safeties in this NFL. This defense also uses a hybrid player.

After getting an edge rusher and a linebacker first, yes a safety would be nice

So when Josh Allen or Pat Mahomes hang 6 TDs on said defense in a playoff game....

They're not drafting Hamilton, Sauce, Cline or any other secondary player in the first three rounds.

The secondary was started with Hall, Davis, and Carter.

Then completed through free agency with Whitehead and Reed.

Next to o-line, it's probably the strongest group on the team.

Safety in the 2nd round?

Hope not.  We have numerous higher priorities.

Edge, WR, LB, CB, HB, Tackle, even DT.

I would expect to see an edge, a WR, a LB and a CB in those top 4 picks, and a HN shortly thereafter,

Could see a Safety in the 4th or later tho, sure, if any worthy ones remain.

I'm liking this safety class a lot more than I did a couple months ago.  If there was one guy I thought would fit for Saleh it'd be Pitre.  Dude plays all over the place and makes plays against the run and pass from S, CB and slot spots.
