At the 11.24 mark in this podcast Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks examine the validity of the pass-rushing win percentage stat in the NFL (it matters,) and then delve into the win percentage of the top five pass rushers in this years draft class.

Spoiler alert, there are two surprises. After Hutchinson, George Karlaftis comes in a strong 2nd, Thibs a strong third.

The second surprise for us non-geniuses is the significant drop-off to Jermaine Johnson and finally Travon Walker scoring at the lower end  of the win percentage spectrum based on their college play.

Nick Bonitto gets some significant love... scores high on pressure percentage

Bonus Points ... DJ and Bucky talk about the battle brewing between Trent Balke wants Travon Walker, Doug Peterson wants Icky Ekwonu at 1.

They think Peterson will win this front office battle, Icky goes 1.

In this case Hutchison definitely goes 2 to Detroit.

For the third pick they are guessing...DJ  guessing on Hamilton, Bucky thinks Sauce Gardner might head to Texas.

If Sauce makes it as far as the Jets, they feel he will be the pick for the Jets, otherwise they talk a possible trade down with Carolina.

Another interesting tidbit from this podcast was the discussion of the number of 1st round graded players.  Daniel has 16, Bucky has 18 and Brett Veach (KC's GM) has 16-18 1st round graded players.

And the follow up to that discussion was that Daniel had a hard time filling out his top 150.  Once he got to 130, he believes there is a huge drop off.  He has 2 punters and 1 kicker in his top 150 which is not typical, there just isn't the prospects after around the 4th round.  They talk about either trading up with later picks (5-7) to get into the 4th or just trading 5-7 round picks for a pick next year.

I really like this kid.  If he's there at 4 (which I doubt) I will be highly disappointed if the Jets pass.

I think he meant the 28th... unless he wishes to be a 2nd rd pick. 😉

Been following Nik Bonitto for some time in mocks and draft talk to see where he may go.  He's legit, but very one-dimensional and a bit small.  He will be a sneaky good pick for some team on Day 2, maybe early 3rd Round?

Question is whether he can earn significant playing time and be on the field for all downs.  At a minimum, as a rotational (2nd and long, 3rd down) pass rusher he might only see the field 12-20 times per game, but he might make the most of it.  Very disruptive.  Nose for the football, good bend, decent set of pass rush moves (can swim between linemen).

If Ickey is gone at 4, and he will be, Sauce will/should be the pick.  If Both Ickey and Sauce are gone, I'm all in on a trade down.

FYI... Although there are no obvious/highly touted WRs for the first round, this draft is PACKED with solid WR prospects.  I would come away from this draft with at least two and possibly three WR's.  I would bet that a pile of WRs from this draft will be great contributors including 3rd and even 4th round WR prospects.
