### The Official Day Three Draft Day Discussion Thread ###

I was listening to one of Jake Asman's post-draft videos and he said that he heard that the Jets are higher on Nasrildeen and Sherwood (as potential LBs for us) than most people might realize.  In other words, JD might feel like we have LB solutions already in-house.

So possibly JD views our main needs today as OL depth and S.

The draft could end today, and it would be a solid A. It's hard to imagine that we have two more picks remaining with the possibility of finding contributing players in 2022 or stashes for development for years 2023 and beyond.

We have enough late round wild cards from 2021 to develop. Interesting to see if Jamien Sherwood, Hamsah Nasirildeen, Jason Pinnock, Brandin Echols, and Jonathan Marshall pan out. If they amounted to nothing more than rotational players and depth, it would be acceptable for late round picks. MCII has already shown that he belongs on the field.

I think both of our picks today are early.  This is still only the 4th round.  I think JD can still pick useful players here.  Don't sleep on today.

111and 117. Picks 6 and 12 in the 4th round.

Kingsley Enagbare (Edge) and Kellen Diesch (OT)

Kellen Diesch (OT) and Romeo Doubs (WR)

Kellen Diesch (OT) and Tycen Anderson (S)

Matt Waletzko (OT) is a good pick too.

But definitely (I think) a Defender and a Tackle.  OT + Safety or Edge or maybe a WR if we're all in on Offense.

Another Edge > DT.  We have three DT's (QW, Rankins, JFM).  We don't have 3 edges yet.

So if I am JD, I for Enagbare and a Tackle (whichever one he thinks best).

I get that the team loved JJ, but I was also really high on Ebiketie and believe he's just as good of a prospect. Hall at 35, Ebiketie at 38 and Travis Jones at 69 would have been real nice.

Right.  I'm sure JD will self-evaluate and decide going forward if it makes sense to be as aggressive as he was.  I'm very happy with how things turned out for us though so no complaints.

I wouldn’t complain. Doesn’t he regularly punt 60 yarders?

Does 18 count as regularly?

Per CBS Sports:

Rating: 77.67 (Chance to start)

Pro Comparison: Pat McAfee

Strengths:

Special talent for a specialist and viewed as top-100 pick by some NFL teams. Multiple 80-plus yards punts during 2021 season and also kicks field goals (converted 53-yarder in '21). Didn't have a single punt or kick blocked. Can kick off as well. Ran in the 4.7s at the combine and is an additional player on the coverage team because of his speed and athleticism.

Weaknesses:

Better punter than kicker (seven games where he missed at least one field-goal attempt in '21). It's hard to find holes in his game, but he could stand to improve punting accuracy inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

Accolades:

2021: First player in program history to be named unanimous first-team All-America

2021: Set FBS records for single-season punt average (51.4 avg.), 60-yard punts (18) and 50-yard punts (39)

Yeah admittedly I'm just nitpicking more than anything. I think JD will take his foot off the gas over time, but they desperately needed to raise the talent floor on this team and sometimes that means being aggressive.

Couldn't agree more!  Love how JD handled this draft.  Going forward, I think we're finally going to be in a position where we can draft like a "good team" would instead of desperately trying to plug up holes everywhere.  When I look at this team now, I see a very good base level of talent.

My official wild ass guess on our 2 4th round picks:

  1. Khalil Shakir WR Boise State
  2. Tycen Anderson S Toledo

DT Perrion Winfrey would be great, but I don't think he's a good scheme fit for us

Don't think there's great value on the OL right now, but, of course, an OL has to be in consideration with each of our remaining picks
