He cautioned against trying to shoehorn a QB into the program because that QB ends up representing your vision for that program, and if that QB sucks or is a mush, then every other player on your roster infers that you, as the GM, don’t really have a viable plan for building the team, and it poisons the well for your rebuild. The giant red flag on Zach Wilson coming out was that he lacked leadership skills and he wasn’t beloved in his own locker room. I don’t think that’s a thing that you can fix, particularly if you’re not playing well. I think Zach Wilson has some problems in this arena, and I think the evidence for this is how much better the Jets looked whenever a non-Zach QB was playing QB for the Jets. That is garbage. Zach was and is loved by the players and coaches at BYU. He still shows up on campus from time to time. I have never heard a single negative thing from anyone who has played with him. what I have heard is that he was knocked because his uncle owned jet blue and that was supposed to mean he was babied or something like that. He’s got a lot to prove this year but let’s at least focus on real issues not made up ones. 1

If Zach balls out this year and is a top 15 QB the people hating on him now will say "anyone with a pulse could put up numbers with this offense, it's not that Zach is good." Then in the same breath turn around and ho-hum about how they're still not sold on JD. A big if of course. But these are the type of people that the morning after a Jets superbowl win they would be complaining about future cap issues, and how we only won because the rest of the league was down because "X player was injured in the playoffs so the Jets didn't have to face him." There is no winning with these people. It's best to ignore them.

I already know the answer to these questions, but I enjoy watching BYU fans answer these two questions, so I’m asking you (nobody help this man). 1. Why was Zach Wilson in jeopardy of losing the starting QB job at BYU prior to his junior season (as confirmed by both Zach Wilson and Kalani Sitake) 2. Why wasn’t Zach Wilson voted in as one of the eight team captains on his football team, instead having to be retroactively named a captain by the coaches at a later date? Kalani is an "Earn it" type of guy. Coming off surgery and missing a few games in the prior season where the backup QB played well and beat a top 25 rival in an away game it would have been wrong to publically promise anything. He was still young in an improving offense. When the "competition" actually happened, it was not even close. There was no doubt. 2. Ive heard the captain vote was done prior to the starter announcement. Its not like the other QB was named a captain. But at this point who cares? Didnt the Jets vote him captain last year? Or maybe he was making jokes about Joseph Smith and it rubbed all the Mormons the wrong way. (Zach is about as Mormon as a Catholic is Catholic who hasn't been to church in 30 years, he may have been born in to it, but his family isn't active in the church and neither is he)

You know the answer and so do I. Neither had anything to do with his leadership ability. Nor am I here just for Zach’s sake. I absolutely LOVE what JD and Saleh are doing with the Jets. Always have had a soft spot for this team, now I’m a Jets fan, as well a Zach fan. I think we may have the best GM/coach combo in the NFL. Good by themselves, incredible as a team.
Marshmello
My 10 favorite scheme and player fits from the 2022 NFL Draft: Ted’s Film Room https://theathletic.com/3282066/2022/05/02/nfl-draft-best-team-scheme-player-matches/ 6. Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets Play style: Patient runner with excellent vision Scheme: Outside zone Breece Hall runs with unusual patience, setting up his blocks and exploding upfield when a crease opens. Has a natural feel for cutting at the best angles to find the open field. He doesn’t need to waste a lot of space and time to make people miss, can do so with quick moves and easily layers on moves when he needs to. The natural comparison for Hall is Le’Veon Bell because of how he takes his time behind the line of scrimmage. Hall is the best zone runner in the class and he’ll be going to an outside zone system with the Jets. Right now, he’s a better inside zone runner than outside. When running outside zone, there are times when he’ll look to set up the vertical cut too early when he should be pressing the outside but this can be coached out of him. His feel for manipulating defenses and finding creases is uncommon and he’ll be fun to watch in this style of offense. Also, offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur wants to have versatile weapons so that he can create mismatches and confusion with his personnel groupings. Hall had 83 receptions in his college career but didn’t run many routes downfield. In this offense, he’ll be asked to run “choice” routes and occasionally split out wide. He’ll need to refine his route running so he could truly be a weapon in the passing game — he has the hands and cutting ability to do it.
