I can't help but think that maybe there was something going on that we are not aware of. The Islanders were a team that was floundering, lacking identity. Trotz came in and basically took the same team that achieved little under Weight/Capuano, lost their best player in Tavares and all he did was make the playoffs 3x, including two trips to the Conference Finals. Apparently the rest of the staff is still under contract for a year, and the new coach (curious who that will be) will make decisions on whom to keep.
