Zach Wilson’s stats are (kind of) a total lie.

Recommended Posts

We’ve been through so many highly drafted rookie QBs that get thrown out to start week 1 we all know the drill

year 1 : learn how to run an NFL offense

year 2 ; learn how to read an NFL defense

year 3 : put it all together

LaFleur did a better job of getting guys open than Zach did of finding them last year.

it’s reasonable to think that will improve this year, and that combined with a better running game, TE and protection should lead to a better offense.

Seems to me the really great ones just have a sense before the ball is snapped what's going to work and what's not.  This way they can limit their options and increase their processing speed. Too many plays Zach went through all his progressions, or got fooled by pre snap looks, which led to holding the ball too long.

But lots of the great ones did not develop that skill for a couple of years

If you have to have half your fanbase rationalize that "stats are a lie", you know you're not yet in a good place.

Fanbases with great QB's don't have to have so many videos claiming "stats are a lie", lol.

Only if you ignore their first seasons. You would do just this if you were talking about the stats of a Josh Allen, L Jackson and countless others.  Not too many come out of the gates with great new age stats as rookies

Stats without context are usesless

> People post video showing film of Zach's progress over the course of the year for discussion sake

> LOL c'mon guys what's the point of discussing that, if he was a hall of fame QB I would have already decided he was LOL

Stats can be misleading. Definitely not the best way to evaluate.

If stats were the end all, Kirk Cousins would be a top 5 QB of all time.

Indeed.

And a ton of guys people thought would be great never developed it.

Hopefully we start truly knowing which type Zach is this year.

haha.  Yeah and we all know it.  We had a few weeks avoiding the same circular discussion.  We will probably know this season.

But the off-season is a long time to wait…

Oh I fully expect at least an infinite number of additional debates rehashing what's already been debated a infinite number of times already.

It's a bit silly at this point, but what else are we gonna do?

2021 is what is it is.  Folks can debate it endlessly, and they do.  State lie I hear, lol.

But all that matters is how Zach looks in 2022.  He can't fix the poop that was 2021, he can only fix 2022 and going forward.

And since he's almost assured to get 2022 and 2023 before he'd (potentially) get cut loose, I'm rooting for a huge upswing in his play, with this great looking supporting cast, in 2022.

But he can't do anything today.  So may as well be patient IMO.  Camp, preseason and opening day will be here soon enough.

If you don’t look at the fake news stats we actually won the Super Bowl last season

Phil1c, I’m a student of your work.

The first 200 posts are usually decent to good and then at around 500 it’s all a cry for help to send you to the gallows.

Is it too much to ask that we get a season where the film is good and the stats are good.  Maybe then we can consistenly put up 24+ points per game and win more than we lose.

Yes, that is too much to ask.

Next request please?
