Popular Post JetNation
Well aware of the Jets questions at offensive tackle with George Fant and Mekhi Becton atop his depth chart, Jets GM Joe Douglas is still poking around in free agency to possibly add a veteran tackle. Former Detroit Lion and Cincinnati Bengals lineman Reily Reiff visited with the Jets today. Free-agent OT Riley Reiff, the former Lions’ 2013 first-round pick who spent last season with the Bengals, is visiting today with the New York Jets, per source. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) June 9, 2022 Reiff, a former first-round pick with the Lions, has started 139 games since entering the league in 2012 and could be this year’s version of Morgan Moses. An experienced tackle who could be asked to step in and start should the Jets be without the services of Becton or Fant during the 2023 season. After suffering a week 14 ankle injury that ended his 2022 season prematurely, Reiff hit free agency and is still looking for a club. Reiff’s addition would be a welcome one for Jets fans. With Joe Douglas having re-built the O-line over the past two seasons, nobody wants the Jets to start 2023 without a viable backup. In Reiff, the Jets would have just that with a player who has played both left and right tackle in his time as a pro. NYDreamer
Eric Fishers name has been mentioned as well. Having an experienced swing tackle to come in on a 1 year deal is a smart move. I'd be happy with either one of those guys.

GreenFish
Hopefully JD lands one of those guys. We need an insurance policy at OT. Also hoping we get a DT who shakes loose or Larry Ogunjobi who seems to be taking his sweet time finding the right spot.

Alka
How do the Jets "host" someone? Is it like they show up, and a Joe Douglas greets him at the door and says, "Hello, I am your host for today." How much money do you want? Why should you want to come here? Can you still play? Why are you here? Why are we hosting you? It's not like they're working the guy out, to see if he's still got it, is it? We like you a lot, we would love to have you be a NY Jet. Is it like that? I realize that most of this is ridiculous, but I really don't exactly know what's entailed with hosting someone.

Looks like they walk him around the facility etc. In one of the OTA videos, you can see Joe talking to him while our guys are practicing. So, it’s probably a lot of that. Have to imagine Joe also trying to sell him on the vision for the team. Probably no different than of you were interviewing for a job. The “sell” job is mutual. Or possibly a mutual decision.

rangerous
isn't this what he's supposed to do? i suspect mac and even idzik did the same. the difference is that neither of those guys knew what positions needed attention. the big issue imo is if they don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about becton. becton is going to have to learn to play hurt. oh not surgery required hurt but play through those inevitable nicks and strains that go hand and hand with his chosen profession.
