My wild prediction at the Jets 2022 Practice Squad

Rules: NFL teams will be able to have 16 players on their practice squad. Ten of the 16 players can have no more than two accrued seasons. The other six players don't have any limitations, which means veterans can be on the practice squad.

Predicted Jets 2022 Practice Squad

1.  5 - Mike White 6'5" 218 Western Kentucky (QB)  (Unlimited) (Or another veteran QB who is cut loose late)
2. 22 - La'Michael Perine 5'11" 216 Florida  (RB)   (2 accrued seasons) (Jets still hoping he can reach his potential)
3. 38 - Zonovan Knight 5'11" 210 NC State (RB)   (< 2 accrued seasons) (Promising UDFA)
4. 81 - Lawrence Cager 6'5" 220 Georgia (TE/WR)      (< 2 accrued seasons) (Had a great off season, but will be difficult to make the active roster)
5.  9 – Calvin Jackson 5'9" 193 Washington St.  (WR)     (< 2 accrued seasons) (Promising UDFA)
6. 16 - Jeff Smith 6'0" 195  Boston College   (WR) (Unlimited)  (Might make the active roster)
7. 67 - Dan Feeney 6'4" 310 Indiana (G/C)    (Unlimited) (Beat out by Nate Herbig for very last roster spot)
8. 63 - Grant Hermanns 6'7" 305 Purdue (T)       (< 2 accrued seasons) (Or any one of several young OLs)
9. 92 - Jabari Zuniga  6'3" 264 Florida (DE)     (2 accrued seasons) (Jets still hoping he can reach his potential)
10. 47 - Bryce Huff 6'3" 255 Memphis (DE)      (2 accrued seasons) (odd man out at DE - would likely be claimed if waived)
11. 96 - Jonathan Marshall 6'3" 310 Arkansas (DT)     (< 2 accrued seasons)  (odd man out at DT)
12. 53 - DQ Thomas 6'2" 216 (MTSU) (LB)    (< 2 accrued seasons) (Promising UDFA)
13. 43 - Del'Shawn Phillips 6'2" 230 Illinois (LB)     (< 2 accrued seasons)  (Played well at times last year)
14. 27 - Isaiah Dunn 5'11" 189 Oregon State (CB)    (< 2 accrued seasons)  (Promising UDFA from last year)

The only thing about Marshall is that he's the only DT over 310 lbs. other than Shephard.  And Rankins (305) is the only other 300+ pounder in the middle.  If we don't roster him, I think we'd have to have picked up another big body.

Perine, Huff, Mike White and jonathan marshall would be plucked off our practice squad in a nano second.  There is no way any of those guys would be put on there.

I can't see what Perrine has done to make any team want to put him on their active roster.  Similar on White who really had one glorious game and then reverted to mediocrity for a game before throwing 4 INTs vs. BUF.  I think this board is the only place where he is anything but a QB3 at best.

Huff and Marshall I could see getting some interest.

If somebody wants Perine they can have him.  Personally I'd keep Ty Johnson on the practice squad and let Perine walk.  Austin Walter level production isn't doing it for me.  Maybe he is better than I think, but he was supposed to be game ready in 2020 and he has been a sub-JAG level player IMO.

Good list.

Jeff Smith has been balling. Plus he's a good contributor on teams and super fast. He could easily be a #3 or #4 on a half dozen teams. Maybe that Montgomery WR to the PS instead of Smith?

Could Cager make the 4th TE spot?

How many TEs do you see making the 53 man roster? I’m thinking 4. Which leaves Cager and Yeboah fighting for the last spot. Sounds like Cager might be ahead in that competition.

The OL will be interesting as well. I think we keep 9. 5 starters, Herbig, Mitchell and Feeney. Last spot for a swing tackle we sign. I would be surprised if Feeney doesnt make the roster even if Herbig is ahead of him.
