Agreed.

I foresee a long and ugly court battle with the Browns stuck in limbo.

Almost feel sorry for their fans, but F anyone who isn't us.

I think Watson has been settling  most of the cases which IMO says to any women that had sex with him, he is open for business and time to get yours. I am almost certain there will be more women coming forward.

Agreed, but I meant between Watson and the league.  They're going to try to suspend him and it will turn into a very big and ugly deal.

I'd rather it went away.  Sports are supposed to be my escape from this crap.

There really isn't an upside for either party.

Well as a Jets fan, we have no dog in the fight. I think the Browns fans are in for a really bad result. This could destroy that team and players will want to jump ship.

If he gets a year doesn’t he get a chance to appeal it? End up close to 8? Just a question, not a pignostication,

Yes,  it will certainly  be appealed and the league  will lower the amount but they are saying the 1 year will be the minimum  which means they are likely looking at more than 17 games.

Ok, that makes more sense. I just hope they hit him up with some perv proofing via his contract. Like make him go to an aggressive penis support group, not be alone with any massage therapist without a chaperone armed with a testicle taser and lifelong mandatory visits with a mental health specialist to remember “ No means No”, not “ meh, let me fly in another half dozen.”

Article says the NFL wants an indefinite ban with a one year minimum, meaning that he can’t appeal until that first year is up. I don’t think he plays this year. Also interesting is the idea of pushing his entire contract back a year and instead of losing his measly first year salary they would fine him instead, and he’d be another year away from his next free agent payday.

Good, thanks.

I don't know what is wrong with that organization.

This path and all the baggage was better than trying to work it out with baker?

The Browns have definitely made the jets last decade look like a well oiled machine.

Won't be in court for long, as we've seen in the past and currently with the Brian Flores matter, all NFL disputes are settled in arbitration.

Not sure it's going to be ugly.  Unlike other NFL disputes, it seems like the majority of the public will support the NFL on suspending this a-hole as long as possible.

Any appeal will be heard by the Goodell, so...good luck to Watson with that.

NFL wants an indefinite ban to make sure nothing else comes up through next spring.  The civil statute of limitations is 2 years so, assuming Watson stopped being a sexual predator when the charges first came out (Jan/Feb of 2021?), any new claims will need to be brought by the Spring of 2023.  (I know, it's a big assumption I'm making that Watson stopped being a creep when charges were first levied).

FYI - criminal statute of limitations is likely longer but criminal charges haven't been supported yet so I would doubt any criminal charges are brought against Watson going forward.

This was an owner based decision, guaranteed. Can’t make a move this bold without the owner behind it.

Absolutely correct. Not even a question. Seeing the Bengals in the Super Bowl was probably the final straw. Desperate moves hardly ever work out well.

I feel bad for Browns fans who hated the decision to bring this guy in, and I laugh at the Browns fans who looked the other way because he’s a good qb. That organization is a train-wreck, which is sad because there’s a LOT of talent there.

At the same time, it's time for Jets fans to stop portraying the failure to draft Watson as a big miss.  He will go at least two years without playing a down and who knows after that.

True, however, it was Mac, so it’s fair game. 😉

In hindsight, yes it would have been a bad pick, but in April of 2017, to take a Safety at pick 6 when our QBs were McCowan, Petty and Hackenberg was still an awful, awful decision.

One of the worst in franchise history.

Watching the pick that day?   My jaw dropped, then my testicles re-ascended.
