The Pre-Preseason 2022 "Predict the Jets Record" Thread

Recommended Posts

The ESPN "Jets will win 3 games" thread reminded me that we haven't had a "Predict the Record" thread yet, and we're right about where the first of these gets posted, time wise.

Yes, surely there will be another about 3/4 of the way through pre-season, and no, no ones money or life is on the line by replying, so don;t take it so seriously or get mad the thread exists ffs.  You know who you are if this sounds like you....

So here is the schedule for your use in making your early predictions, so copy-paste and give us your wins/losses as you see them, knowing what we know to this point (pre-pre-season).

And I'll be happy to start us off:

9-8 finish.

Split with NE and Miami, drop both to Buffalo within the Division.

Split in Conference, taking the Watson-less Browns, the down/rebuilding Steelers, and the Lawrence-led Jags in Conference.  Lose to the Ravens, Bengals, Broncos, but the Broncos will be closer than folks think.

NFC games also a mixed bag, beating Kirk Cousins and the Vikings and the QB-uncertain-maybe-Geno-led Seahawks and Da Bares and Fields.

But even diminished, the Pack stomps us at Green Bay.

Could see a few games going either way (Steelers because history, Denver because over-rated IMO, Vikings because Zach isn't Cousins yet, Seahawks if not Geno maybe).

But I'm clearly either more optimistic, or more demanding, than many.  Young, Zach, or no, I think we're much better this year.

3 wins, a la ESPN's writers take, and this who regime is gone.  And I just don't see that happening.

Green Bay is an interesting game for us because they are in Europe the week before and is just a classic trap game for them and we usually play them tough. Agree that Denver is way overrated and Wilson has been regressing. I think we beat Baltimore because they are usually slow out of the gate, run blocking can be more difficult to get early in a season and I am not sure Lamar Jackson will continue to be as effective just like what happened with Cam.

I was on the fence with the Ravens game. Ravens receivers are meh. Jets will bring pressure up the middle with the Edges having containment on Jackson.

Their running game is the thing that worries me. Deep RB group and designed runs for LJ.

Yes but running games tend to lad behind passing very early in seasons. And we will have the crowd frenzied.

Ravens are a veteran team. Lamar’s accuracy would be a bigger issue than the Ravens running game against our 32nd ranked run defense last year.

9-8. Bold/Dark means "highly likely", light color means "close game, could see it go either way". If they win all the games marked close, they'd be 13-4. If they lost them all, they'd be 5-12. So that's the range for them, to me.

Haa..

I'm not going to agree / disagree with the list but...

We see the conference the same.  I also think we'll take both from Billy Moobs, split the fins and drop both to da Bills.

It really depends on when and if Suoerbowl MVP Joe Flacco gets the nod. If Zach plays “lights out” and his new and approved beefcake physique holds up I say we are a .500 team. If Zach struggles and Joe gets the nod I expect we produce at a .750 level with this offense with upgraded line, improved running game with star potential, a wide receiver group with more potential than we’ve seen like 4-ever and an actual NFL level tight end room. I see .500 at the worse as long as the coaching staff has the balls to win this season.

I'm not sure if I should adjust my 6-10 standard prediction to 6-11 or the heady heights of 7-10. I'm looking forward to 18 games so I can go with 7-11 and bring the sh*tty convenience store into it.

As an aside, I'm convinced that the NFL has a huge marketing deal lined up with the chain to advertise the 7-11 bowl for all teams that finish 7-11 to have a playoff to be the crap town champions.

..and if it wasn't clear, they all play in one game whether it's 1 team or 18 so it's just a total sh*t show all the way around.

Flacco is on the team so JD doesn’t look like an absolute moron should #2 go down but he also won’t trigger a fan revolt to demand he start should the QB stink up the joint. He’s getting paid to exist.

If that’s the case then the fans deserve another abysmal season. Serves them right.
