Hall is a second round pick with first round talent.  His contract will reflect the second round pick.  With Hall, I don't have a problem with the Jets guaranteeing his 3rd year.  Of course, if Hall has a career ending injury, then it doesn't look good, but I personally would like to see Hall get the guarantee.

And Zach is 1st round pick with 5th round talent.  The CBA locked in this scale.  Can't wait for the next one.  Non contact practices.

I wonder sometimes if anyone realizes american football would suck without it being a bloodsport.

Take checking out of hockey and you have cane assisted figure skating.

Basketball would.clearly win the competition between flag football and itself.

Some more explanation on the Hall issue...looks like they're going to have to guarantee some of his 4th year and will probably wait until 33, 34 and 35 get signed to figure out just how much that is going to be....

The Jets letting breece hall hold out because of 3rd and 4th year guarantees is peak Jets

It's not like he's a big part of their offense or anything ?

So, it turns out it's not about the language...it's about the money...thank you Texans...100% guaranteed money for 3 years for second round picks.  How long before all picks will get a 3 year guarantee?

It is hard to argue with the logic of making sure as much guarantee as possible is in your contract as a RB.  Especially considering your biggest value to a team is likely going to be that first 4 years.  Its hard to argue that RB pay scales should start low like almost every other position when you consider that their most valuable years are mostly front loaded.

Its a raw deal to be a RB in this era.  Especially a bell cow back.  Very few bodies are built to take that abuse more than a couple seasons.

It's all about precedent.  You do it once and it will be demanded from every pick moving forward.  Having outs on contracts is great to have for an org.

Every single other player is signed.  I'm not overly concerned about a RB missing some time, it's one of the easier positions to transition to from college.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jets RB Breece Hall will sign his rookie deal.

Hall, a second-round pick in the 2022 draft, is among the last rookies to hold out on a contract, presumably wanting more guaranteed money than the Jets were willing to offer their new RB1. Look for Hall to come to terms with the team and enter training camp as the No. 1 back in what will likely be a run-first New York offense. Michael Carter, an excellent pass catcher and solid rusher, could see some snaps as the No. 2 back.

Great news about Hall signing. MC1 will see plenty of snaps.

How dare you post this.  Jet fans are running out of things to bitch and moan about.  Quick, back to the backup qb thread for more whining.

Agreed. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. This was never going to be an issue

Zach Wilson visited Iowa to.  If you are to believe those inside the program, Wilson was all set to commit to Iowa but Iowa took their current QB(who is terrible) because he was willing to commit first.  We’d probably be on our way to the Super Bowl if those guys played for such a respectable program in college

We always have Becton in the bullpen, he's like a left handed reliever.

Eh you don't get it. It has nothing to do with the jets. First round picks get fully guaranteed deals now. 2nd round picks are trending that way as well. Next thing you know teams will have to fully guarantee the entire draft class. Then free agents are going to look at the rookies and say "I'm better than them, I deserve a fully guaranteed contract"

I don't think owners are too happy things are trending this way...
