And what does it mean to "suspend" an owner anyway?

I believe the way it's done is to make him ambassador to Great Britain or something like that.  Or maybe ban him from asian massage parlors permanently...  whoops.. wrong AFC Est owner.

This league is  a joke.  I hate the Dolphlegms as much as anyone but guys doing things that have been done for 60 years in this league and suddenly it is a heinous act in which you must be PUNISHED!  This and bounty gate and then we have a player given a measly 6 games for totally real abhorrent behavior and an owner doing the same shi* and it's like a slap on the wrist.

I think offering their HC money to lose games was the real driver behind forfeiting the 1st round pick more than tampering with Brady.

Our entire division cheats, except us and the Bills and go figure, the Jets havent won a SB in 50 years and hold the longest playoff draught in the NFL and Bills have never won a SB.

I do not think it is so much that they tampered.  It is how inept they were at doing it.  Talking directly to Tom?  Really?

Yeah tampering is kind of BS. Plus the main accusation (paying Flores to lose) turned out to be made up.

They pretty much admit that he did offer Flores money to lose, but claim he was just joking. Noted funny guy, that Stephen Ross.

Had to repost this reddit gold:

“ The Dolphins watched Brady own their franchise for two decades and decided they wanted him to LITERALLY own it too… and they lost draft picks for it lmao. Absolute comedy “

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂😂🤣

They need to put that on a T Shirt. 😂

Players are protected by the CBA and a union that would fight a suspension of a player who was videotaped beating his fiancé.
Huge difference unfortunately

So, in comparison, I guess creepy Bob Kraft got off easy for his own disgusting behavior, which surely sullied the NFL reputation.

You think Kraft would have or should have cost his team  1st and a 3rd for getting a tug job, a suspension and a 1.5M fine for something done with consent?  Or what is a hell of worse than what Watson could get for forcing himself on someone.

The one thing not being discussed is that it sounds like Brady was interested in the Dolphins.  Maybe he really wanted to stick it to BB and the Pats 2x per year in regular season just to show them who was the real reason for their success.

Well...that would be typical NFL, because according to the report the Dolphins were only found guilty of tampering with Brady and Payton.  The Flores allegations were rejected.

Yes.  Not sure why they couldn't find them guilty of that, but they did mention integrity of the game in their messaging and the belief is that this penalty covers that as well since they couldn't, for whatever reason, address it directly.  Flores tweeted about it as well.

When I first saw this news, that it related to the "integrity of the game", I figured it had to do with the "Flores being offered money to tank" allegation.

I mean I'm glad to see the Dolphins get pinched, but have to agree with other posters here that the "tampering" allegation is a joke.

We're supposed to believe that no other owner or GM in the NFL has had "impermissible" conversations with players under contract with other teams (or with those players' agents)?  I mean come on.

Just like even before the "legal tampering" window was created ahead of FA, you had FA deals being announced literally 1 minute after the opening bell of FA (or even ahead of the official window).

Goodell's hypocrisy will go down as legendary.

The NFL literally promotes sports betting apps nonstop before during and after games.  Like every other commercial last season was JB Smoove pushing the Caesar's palace app or Jamie Foxx pushing the "King of Sportsbooks".

Cal Ridley was probably at home on his sofa watching these ads and figured, hey, whatever, why don't I make things a little more interesting and put $1500 on my Falcons.

Boom.  Banned for 1 year without salary with Goodell citing "integrity of the game" as the reason.

Billionaire Stephen Ross gets "suspended" for 2 months and loses less money than Ridley.

BTW, still waiting for the Kraft "discipline" that is never going to happen....

Goodell waived that discipline after Kraft gave him a list of the best rub and tug in each state.

Deshaun should have asked, but then again Bob is a billionaire.

Because them coming to any other conclusion would be an admission that Ross committed a felony under both Florida and Federal criminal law, as well as tarnish the "INTEGRITY!!!!!!111" brand that the league is trying to maintain, while they also cozy up with sportsbetting interests.

Apparently,  talking to people is worse than sexually assaulting them in the NFL.....

Hot take

actually Watson has settled most of the civil suits and both grand juries declined to press criminal charges due to a lack of evidence meeting the threshold. I’m not saying he’s innocent, but it’s tough to punish someone on hearsay
