Flacco outplaying Wilson?

The idea is clearly out there.

Today in the DC Sports Media market, the Sports Junkies had a NY Post beat writer on, ostensibly discussing the Giants (this is Commanders territory, after all).

But after that, the Junks asked about the Jets, and directly cited this claim, that "Flacco has been out-playing Wilson".

The beat writer (whose name I didn't get, sorry) dismissed the idea near completely, saying in effect (paraphrasing here) that "Flacco is playing against #2 and guys who won't be playing or active come the regular season, so it's not an apples to apples comparison at all.  I'd expect a veteran whose won super bowls to look good playing against future camp cuts", or something very similar.

I agree with the beat writer.  Zach is getting all or nearly all the work with the #1's.  Flacco looking ok vs. #2's may excite some of the more virulent anti-White folks on the board, but it does not represent a threat to Wilson as the #1 QB.

Lol at this nonsense. Playing better in those games would have hurt this franchise more than it helped. And if you don't understand why I can't help you.

Jets were better off playing Wison last year in the 1st 8 games where he got his head kicked in?

I'm not sold on Wilson one way or another and anyone who says different is full of it.

However, this nonsense that Flacco is outplaying Wilson is just another example of the media hate for the NYJ.

Flacco isn't taking any 1st team reps. This isn't a competition for who starts.

Therefore...there is no OUTPLAYING someone because it's apples and oranges.

Veteran / Super Bowl MVP Champion QB should look good vs. 2nd team defense early in camp. If that guy with that resume can't look good in that scenario he has no business being on an NFL roster.

Whether or not Wilson is the longterm answer or not he will have highs and lows (again) this season....hopefully more highs than lows.

Another sign for NYJ media hate: the source of this news is a lone guy in the Midwest without sources, but real media apparently ran with it because they like the narrative.

Exactly. The Jets are a team people love to hate.

They hated the couple of years Rex had success because they had to shut up. But man oh man did they make up for lost time the last 12 years.

Flacco outplaying Wilson?

Batman Facepalm GIF by WE tv

Are you trying to make Batman cry? Analyze the situation. Are both QB playing against the ones? Nope. Is practice a real game? Nope. Is one guy a super bowl MVP with close to two decades of experience? Yup. You would hope the old guy looks good in practice against back ups. Is Z'Dub going into his second year with plenty to learn and experience to gain? Yup. Why is it so hard for some people to look past a mere moment, and gauge the context of a situation?

Apparently Flacco has been getting reps against the first string defense

the tell that this is all true is Saleh praising Flacco during press conferences as a way of deflecting off Zach Wilson.  If Flacco wasn’t outperforming Wilson he wouldn’t be running around saying he should be a starter in the nfl
