Report: Panthers Interested in Dealing for Jets’ Mims

Having requested a trade out of New York, Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims is reportedly drawing interest from the Carolina Panthers.  The report should come as no surprise given the way Mims played at Baylor for current Panthers head coach Matt Rhule.

Panthers have called about Jets WR Denzel Mims, per league sources. Mims had a pair of 1,000-yard receiving seasons for Matt Rhule at Baylor.
GM Scott Fitterer has said Panthers will be in on every deal. So Mims interest not surprising, esp. given his connection to Rhule. (1/2)

The Panthers have reportedly contacted the Jets who are letting it be known they will not give the wide receiver away.  Despite his lack of production for Gang Green, Connor Hughes of SNY is reporting the Jets are willing to move Mims, but it won’t be for pennies on the dollar.

Sources: The #Jets are open & plan to grant Denzel Mims’ trade request.

They will not, though, give him away. They believe Mims has talent & like their receiving unit with him on it.

Only way a trade happens is if #NYJ get what they believe is equal value.

Mims is undoubtedly a talented player who put in tons of work this off-season to get better, but it hasn’t done him much good.  He has been relegated to second and third team reps thus far.  Having requested a deal, it’s unlikely he’ll be a Jets when the season kicks off in a few weeks.

I'll take Brady Christensen, their 3rd rounder from last year, who just lost the LT job to Ekwonu. Could be a nice swing-tackle for us. Blocked for Zach at BYU.

Denzel has done nothing in the league.  He should just play out his contract and get better,  then go where he wants.  If The Jets want, they can stash him on the 53 and be inactive every week. Him asking for a trade is laughable. If he is active and pouts and does not want to play hard, he will be drummed out of the league after his rookie contract. It is about being a professional.

The Jets are in the drivers seat.

not really because that would mean taking a roster spot from a guy like Cager, BAM, or Charles for a guy who doesnt want to be here - not to mention what that does locker room cancer

This team is average at best, these prima-donna's do not get to dictate terms, he is under contract and that's, that. Be a professional. They will carry 6 receivers and 5 will be active every week.  Denzel will be on the outside looking in and The Jets can destroy any credibility he still has with the league.  Bam looks average, kick-off returns against scrubs mean nothing in pre-season.  They will carry 4 TE's and Cager will make it.

Ask your boss to be traded to another group and you will be on the unemployment line, if they do not bow down to your terms.

If he was a professional, he would just do the job asked and shut up.

There's more opportunity there than with the Jets. After Moore there's Anderson , who is terrible and Marshall , who has been as disappointing as Mims.  It's a WR wasteland there.
